On July 31, videos of Kim Ye Ji participating in the 25-meter pistol event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, held last May, went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The video, which has received over 30 million views, shows Kim Ye Ji, dressed in black and wearing a cap backward, calmly shooting the pistol, checking the target, and securing the gun with a composed demeanor. After taking a deep breath, she looks at the target again before turning away.

During this ISSF competition, Kim Ye Ji set a world record and won the gold medal.

Global Praise and Comparisons to a Movie Character

Netizens worldwide have praised Kim Ye Ji, likening her to a “movie character.” A post on X, featuring the video with the caption, “The most ‘main character energy’ I’ve ever seen,” has accumulated over 25 million views as of 11 AM on the 31st. Comments included:
