What the Cast Said About Their Roles
Yim Si-wan described Yoon Yi-jun as a character who resembles “a feisty cat” and explained that he wanted to show a different kind of chaebol heir.
“I focused on understanding his past. He was born into a life where everything he had to do was already decided for him, leaving little room for what he actually wanted. I felt that was why he gradually began to stray from the path laid out for him.”
Yim also shared that Yi-jun’s extravagant fashion reflects his inner loneliness.
“The lonelier someone is, the more extravagantly they tend to dress. I wanted his glamorous appearance to make the emptiness inside him stand out even more.”
Seorina cut her hair short for the role of Kang Jae-hee and trained to make the character’s special forces background believable. She spoke about the moment she first saw her new look.
“When I first looked in the mirror, I honestly felt a bit down. But then I realized, ‘There’s a side of Seol I’ve never seen before.’ It became a fantastic opportunity for self-discovery.”
She also explained how she approached the physical side of the character.
“I thought if I could make the Special Forces part believable and convincing, I’d be able to pull off the male disguise in a more believable way as well.”
Director Park Dan-hee spoke about why she cast Seorina and how quickly the decision was made.
“I thought no one but Seol In Ah could play Kang Jae Hee. Her casting was decided unanimously and the fastest.”
Writer Moon Soo-jung explained the story’s central idea, which flips the usual rescue pattern.
“I wondered what it would be like to make Kang Jae Hee a knight on a white horse who saves Yoon Yi Joon. People often say ‘prince on a white horse,’ but there’s no rule that only princes can ride white horses.”

The Story at the Center of Love in Disguise
Yoon Yi-jun is a third-generation heir to Taegang Group, a major Korean conglomerate. His life changes when he becomes the prime suspect in a murder case connected to his company. While looking for a new personal secretary, he chooses Kang Jae-hee, a former special forces officer who presents herself as a male applicant.
Kang Jae-hee is actually a police detective assigned to investigate Yi-jun and determine whether he is responsible for the murder. She disguises herself as a man to get close to him, and her approach to the job is anything but subtle. She stays almost constantly by his side, making it hard to tell whether she is protecting him or keeping him under surveillance.
An attraction develops between them while Yi-jun remains unaware of Jae-hee’s true identity. He begins to question his own feelings, believing he is drawn to another man. The series builds its romance on that confusion, and the story moves forward as the two characters bicker, stay close to each other, and slowly grow closer.
