On December 2, 2024, V announced on Instagram that Yeontan had passed away, saying,
“Actually, the reason I’m writing this post today is that recently, Yeontan has embarked on a long journey to the dog stars. I thought a lot about how to tell you this, but I felt it was right to share this news with ARMY, who have shown so much love for Yeontan.”

In his post, V expressed his gratitude for the love Yeontan received from fans, asking them to remember the dog and wish for his happiness “even in the stars.” V also shared old videos of him playing with Yeontan, reflecting on the cherished moments they shared.

Yeontan first became known to fans in December 2017, when he made his debut appearance on Jin’s birthday live broadcast. Over the years, Yeontan formed close bonds with the BTS members, often seen at the dorms with V and other members. Despite V’s busy schedule, he took Yeontan back in 2023, strengthening their bond as they lived together in V’s Seoul apartment. Yeontan was also known to have been close to Jungkook’s pet dog, Bam.
