A sad story has come out about a fan of the group ZEROBASEONE. This fan died in the recent Jeju Air accident while traveling back from Thailand after going to the Asia Artist Awards (AAA).
Fan Traveling from AAA Involved in Accident
A post on social media said that the fan was on a Jeju Airline flight from Thailand after going to the award show to support ZEROBASEONE. The post explained that a friend of someone knew this fan. They said,
“This isn’t related to SHINee, but I wanted to share something after some thought, as it seems not widely known yet. A friend of a friend, who was a fan of ZEROBASEONE, went to Thailand for the AAA but sadly died in the Jeju Air accident. People knew who they were right away because their things had fan items on them. Please send your condolences.”
Details of the Jeju Air Accident
Around 9:07 AM on December 29, a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok went off the runway when it was landing. The plane was trying to land at Muan International Airport. It hit the wall next to the runway and caught fire.
There were 181 people on the plane: 175 passengers (173 from South Korea and 2 from Thailand) and 6 crew members.
What Happened Before the Crash
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport said that at about 8:57 AM, the control tower at Muan Airport told the plane about birds hitting the plane. Then, at 8:59 AM, the pilot sent a “Mayday” signal to the control tower. This is a signal that means they are in serious danger.
The plane tried to land on the runway in the opposite direction of where they were first told to land at about 9:00 AM. The crash happened because the wheels did not come down when they tried to land.
