Jason Isaacs, best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, has joined the cast of the upcoming psychological horror-thriller Victorian Psycho. The movie also stars Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho).
The film follows Winifred Notty, a seemingly polite governess hired to teach children at a remote gothic mansion. However, her calm exterior hides a dark, violent nature. As staff members mysteriously disappear, suspicions grow around her.
“In 1858, an eccentric young governess, Winifred Notty, arrives at the remote gothic manor, Ensor House. As Winifred assimilates, staff begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners wonder if something is amiss about this new governess,” the official description states.
Isaacs will play Mr. Pounds, the secretive owner of the mansion. The film is directed by Zachary Wigon (The Heart Machine) and written by Virginia Feito, based on her own novel.
Production begins in August 2025, with Anton fully financing the project. Wigon praised Isaacs, saying he brings depth to complex characters.
“Jason depicts the nuances of human psychology and behavior with enormous precision. Iโm thrilled for him to be joining Victorian Psychoโitโll be fascinating to watch him bring to life the enigmatic and mercurial owner of Ensor House, Mr. John Pounds,” Wigon told Deadline.
Isaacs recently appeared in The White Lotus Season 3, which was a major hit. His other notable roles include Star Trek: Discovery and The OA. Fans are excited to see him in another dark, mysterious role.
The filmโs eerie setting and psychological tension have drawn comparisons to classics like The Turn of the Screw and Rebecca. With a strong cast and gripping premise, Victorian Psycho is already generating buzz.
