Actress Go Min Si has canceled her appearance at a brand event in Seoul following online accusations of school bullying. The event, scheduled for May 29, will proceed with other stars like Kim Seon Ho, Lee Min Jung, and aespa’s Giselle. The decision comes days after anonymous claims about her past behavior went viral.
Her agency, Mystic Story, strongly denied the allegations. They stated, “After checking through various channels including the actress herself, we have confirmed that these claims are completely groundless.” The agency also hinted at legal action against false rumors.
The Bullying Allegations
On May 26, an online post titled “We are victims of actress Go ○○’s school bullying” accused her of misconduct during middle school. The anonymous writer claimed she bullied classmates, took money, and mocked students with disabilities. Though the post did not name her directly, netizens linked it to Go Min Si due to details about her past.
The accuser said they did not want an apology or money. Instead, they demanded she “end her public activities permanently” to prevent further harm. The post also mentioned her 2020 underage drinking incident, which she previously called a “careless mistake.”
Agency and Friend’s Response
Mystic Story released another statement: “We express our deep concern and regret that malicious posts based on false information are damaging our actor’s reputation. We have appointed legal representatives and will take civil and criminal action.”
A friend of Go Min Si, referred to as “A”, also denied involvement. On Instagram, they wrote:
“I’ve never been involved in school violence. If you have evidence, bring it. Hiding behind anonymous posts is the real form of violence. I’m not afraid.”
They challenged critics to meet in person, adding, “I’ll serve you coffee if you come to my shop.” The friend also warned of legal action against those spreading their personal details online.
Impact on Go Min Si’s Career
The controversy has affected her work. She withdrew from the brand event and may skip interviews for her drama The Taste of You, which recently gained global popularity on Netflix. Despite the backlash, Netflix confirmed her upcoming project Perfect Job remains on schedule.
Fans are divided. Some support her, while others question the allegations. A netizen commented, “If she’s innocent, why cancel events?” Another wrote, “False accusations can ruin careers. We need proof.”
Past Controversies
This is not her first scandal. In 2020, she apologized for underage drinking after photos surfaced online. At the time, she admitted it was a mistake but denied other wrongdoing.
What Happens Next?
Legal action could clarify the truth. Mystic Story’s strong denial suggests they will fight the claims in court. Meanwhile, public opinion may shift depending on new evidence.
For now, Go Min Si’s fans await her next move as the drama The Taste of You continues airing.
