KBS2’s upcoming drama “The First Night With the Duke” has released a thrilling new teaser, showcasing the hilarious and romantic chaos between Taecyeon and Seohyun. The fantasy romance drama promises a fresh twist on classic tropes, blending humor, fantasy, and heart-fluttering moments.
The story follows Cha Sun Chaek (played by Seohyun), a modern-day college student who wakes up inside her favorite historical romance novel as a minor character. After a drunken night with the male lead, Yi Beon (played by Taecyeon), her life takes an unexpected turn. The teaser highlights their chaotic dynamic as Yi Beon declares his intent to marry her, throwing the original plot into disarray.
Yi Beon, a cold yet charismatic nobleman, shocks Sun Chaek by insisting they must marry after their night together. His bold statement, “We spent the first night together, so of course we should take responsibility for each other,” leaves her flustered. Despite her attempts to avoid him, his persistence breaks down her defenses.
The teaser also introduces other key characters, adding layers to the story. Jo Eun Ae (Kwon Han Sol), the novel’s original female lead, surprises everyone by pursuing the second male lead, Jung Soo Gyeom (Seo Bum June). Meanwhile, the villainess Do Hwa Seon (Chi Hae Won) stirs trouble by entering Yi Beon’s bedroom, raising tensions.
The drama’s fantasy setting allows for unpredictable twists, keeping viewers engaged. The production team shared, “Cha Sun Chaek’s confusion and emotional changes, along with the complicated relationships between characters, will create a story unlike typical romances.”
Originally a popular web novel by Hwang Do Tol, the story was later adapted into a hit webtoon with over 114 million views. The drama version reimagines the setting as a Joseon-era period piece, adding historical charm to the romantic comedy.
