All seven BTS members have completed their mandatory military service in South Korea, with each taking on unique roles. From elite forces to kitchen duties, their contributions have been diverse. Here’s a detailed look at what each member did during their service.
V (Kim Tae-hyung) served in the Military Police’s Special Duty Team (SDT), an elite unit handling counter-terrorism and high-risk missions. Despite a cracked rib during training, he earned titles like Special Warrior, Platoon Leader, and Exemplary Shooter. His promotion to Sergeant highlighted his discipline and leadership .
Jin (Kim Seok-jin), the first to enlist, became an Assistant Drill Instructor after topping his basic training class. He received Elite Warrior recognition for outstanding physical and leadership skills. His early promotion showcased his dedication to training new recruits .
J-Hope (Jung Ho-seok) also earned Special Warrior status and worked as an Assistant Drill Instructor. He won the Army’s Strong Warrior Speech Contest and was praised for his professionalism. His role involved rigorous training of new soldiers .
Jimin (Park Ji-min) was deployed to an Artillery Fire Direction Center after receiving the Best Trainee Award. He later became a Squad Leader and achieved Special Grade Soldier status for excellence in shooting, strength, and leadership .
RM (Kim Nam-joon) joined the Military Band as a leader and also served as a Chaplain Assistant, providing moral support. Recognized as an Elite Trainee, he was promoted to Platoon Leader during training .
Jungkook (Jeon Jung-kook) took on the role of Lead Cook, preparing meals for his unit. Despite the demanding job, he earned an early promotion to Sergeant. Fans loved updates about his cooking, including his famous ramen porridge and bulgogi .
Suga (Min Yoon-gi) fulfilled his duty as a Public Service Worker due to a past shoulder injury. Though not in active service, he completed basic training and contributed through social work. His discharge is set for June 21, 2025 .
BTS members will reunite at the 2025 BTS Festa on June 13-14, marking their official return. Fans worldwide are excited for their comeback after years of solo projects and military service .
“Thank you to the fans and reporters who came to see us,” Jimin said after his discharge. “Now that we’re back, we’ll work hard to show you what we’ve prepared.”
