The third episode of Fatal Destination titled Missing in Myrtle Beach uncovers the tragic story of Brittanee Drexel, a 17-year-old girl who vanished during her spring break trip in 2009. The episode, airing on June 17, 2025, at 10 PM EST on Investigation Discovery (ID), dives into the chilling investigation and eventual confession that solved the case after 13 years.
Brittanee Drexel, from Chili, New York, traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with friends in April 2009. Her mother initially refused permission due to no adult supervision, but Brittanee left without her knowledge. On April 25, 2009, she walked alone to meet a friend at the Blue Water Resort, texting her boyfriend before her phone went silent. She was never seen alive again.
Surveillance footage showed her leaving the resort around 8:45 PM. Her last phone signals were traced near Georgetown County, sparking an 11-day search that found no leads. The case turned cold until 2016, when the FBI confirmed she had been abducted and murdered. A prison inmate later claimed to have witnessed her assault and killing, but no evidence was found.
In May 2022, a breakthrough came when Raymond Moody, a registered sx offender, confessed to the crime. He led investigators to her remains near a wooded area in Georgetown. DNA tests confirmed her identity, and Moody admitted to strangling her on April 26, 2009. He was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years for kidnapping, murder, and sxual assault.
Moodyโs girlfriend, Angel Vause, was also arrested in 2024 for lying to the FBI. She received an 18-year sentence in February 2025. The episode features interviews with law enforcement, family, and friends, reconstructing the events that turned a dream vacation into a nightmare.
The show is narrated by Jessica Biel and blends real footage, reenactments, and firsthand accounts. Fatal Destination explores how seemingly safe trips can hide dark dangers. The series is available on Max and Hulu after its ID premiere.
“I heard two gunshots and then saw a wrapped body being thrown into a pond with alligators,” said inmate Taquan Brown in earlier reports. However, authorities found no proof of this claim.
