THE BOYZ will continue as a 10-member group after Ju Haknyeon’s contract was terminated due to a private meeting with a former Japanese adult film actress.

On June 18, 2025, THE BOYZ‘s agency, One Hundred Label, announced that Ju Haknyeon is leaving the group and his contract has been canceled. The decision came after reports surfaced about his private meeting with Kirara Asuka, a former Japanese adult video (AV) actress.

The agency stated they took immediate action after learning about the issue. They investigated and decided Haknyeon could no longer remain in the group.

“We have recognized the severity of the issue and have taken it seriously. We have realized that it has become difficult to maintain our trust in him as an artist,” said One Hundred Label in their official statement.

The agency also mentioned that the remaining members of THE BOYZ will continue their activities as a 10-member group. They apologized to fans for the sudden news and promised better support for the team moving forward.

What Led to Ju Haknyeonโ€™s Departure?

Reports from Japanese media outlet Shลซkan Bunshun and Korean news site News1 revealed that Haknyeon met Kirara Asuka in Tokyoโ€™s Roppongi district on May 29, 2025. Witnesses said they were seen drinking together at a bar, with moments of physical closeness, including hugging and Asuka resting her chin on his shoulder.

Kirara Asuka is a former AV actress who worked in the industry from 2007 to 2020 before becoming an influencer. While the meeting itself was not illegal, it sparked controversy due to the strict image rules in the K-pop industry.

One Hundred Label did not confirm or deny the details but stated they had verified the facts with Haknyeon before making their decision.

Fans React to the Sudden News

The news shocked fans, with many expressing mixed reactions online. Some questioned why Haknyeon was removed for his private life, while others understood the agency’s decision.

“Sad One Hundred is such sht who cares what he does in his private life, as long as it’s not a serious illegal issue. Thoughts for Deobis,”* wrote one fan on an online forum.

“I rather he date normallyโ€ฆ What kind of news is this,” commented another netizen.

Some fans were disappointed, saying: “Itโ€™s absolutely disillusioning for him to be tied to a prnstar. The company works fast.”*

THE BOYZโ€™s Recent Controversies

This is not the first time THE BOYZ has faced controversy. Earlier in April 2025, member Sunwoo was criticized for his attitude in a viral video where he appeared dismissive toward a staff member. The agency later apologized and took legal action against malicious comments.

In another incident, dating rumors involving member Juyeon and actress Shin Si-a circulated, though the agency denied them.

What Happens Next for THE BOYZ?

With Haknyeonโ€™s departure, THE BOYZ will now promote as a 10-member group. The agency assured fans that they will support the remaining members to continue activities smoothly.

Fans are waiting to see how the group adjusts their music, choreography, and promotions without Haknyeon, who was a vocalist and dancer in the team.

Ju Haknyeonโ€™s Future Plans

As of now, Haknyeon has not made a personal statement about his departure. It is unclear if he will continue in the entertainment industry or pursue other paths.

This case highlights the strict expectations placed on K-pop idols regarding their public and private behavior. Even actions outside work can lead to serious consequences in their careers.
