Jo Jung Suk plays a desperate father trying to save his infected daughter in the upcoming comedy-drama “My Daughter Is A Zombie,” based on a popular webtoon. The film releases on July 30, 2025.

The movie follows Jung Hwan (Jo Jung Suk), a single father whose daughter Soo Ah (Choi Yu Ri) becomes the last surviving zombie after a deadly outbreak. To protect her, he hides in his hometown, Eunbong Village, with his mother Bam Soon (Lee Jung Eun). The newly released trailer shows his struggle to keep her safe while facing threats from the outside world.

A Fatherโ€™s Fight to Save His Daughter

The trailer opens with a chilling public announcement warning people to avoid the infected. Jung Hwan discovers his daughter has turned into a zombie but refuses to give up on her. He takes her to Eunbong Village, where his mother and childhood friend Dong Bae (Yoon Kyung Ho) help him.

When Dong Bae sees Soo Ah and nervously says, “Sheโ€™sโ€ฆ changed a little,” Jung Hwan and Bam Soon joke, “Sheโ€™s just grown a lotโ€”teenage years, you know.” The mix of humor and emotion highlights the filmโ€™s unique tone.

Jung Hwan starts secret training to control Soo Ahโ€™s zombie instincts. A touching moment comes when she remembers a dance they used to do together. He tearfully insists, “If she has memories, sheโ€™s not a zombie. Sheโ€™s alive, Mom!”

Rising Tensions and Outside Threats

The situation gets harder when Jung Hwanโ€™s first love, Yeon Hwa (Cho Yeo Jeong), appears. She hates zombies and coldly says, “Thatโ€™s not your daughter anymore.” As rumors spread about Soo Ah, the family faces growing danger.

The trailer ends with a heartbreaking scene where Soo Ah asks, “Dad, can you wait for me a little longer?” Jung Hwan replies, “Of course. Iโ€™ll wait.” This emotional line shows his unwavering love.

Based on a Popular Webtoon

The film is adapted from a Naver Webtoon by Lee Yun Chang, which ran from 2018 to 2020. The story is set one year after a zombie outbreak, where South Korea is declared zombie-freeโ€”except for Soo Ah. The webtoon gained a strong fanbase, making the live-action adaptation highly anticipated.

Director Pil Gam Sung, known for “Hostage: Missing Celebrity,” brings the story to life with a mix of comedy and drama. The cast includes Jo Jung Suk, Choi Yu Ri, Lee Jung Eun, Cho Yeo Jeong, and Yoon Kyung Ho.

Fan Reactions and Expectations

Fans of the webtoon are excited to see the adaptation. Many praised the trailerโ€™s balance of humor and emotion.

“Jo Jung Sukโ€™s acting is perfect for this role. I canโ€™t wait to see how he portrays a fatherโ€™s love in such a unique story.”

“The trailer made me laugh and cry. This is going to be a must-watch film this summer.”

“Choi Yu Ri as a zombie is both creepy and adorable. The cast is amazing!”
