Disney+ launched the new K-drama Twelve on August 23 and 24, 2025. The series starts with a story based on zodiac myths. Long ago, twelve guardian angels fought dark spirits that threatened people. Their sacrifice locked these evil creatures inside the Hell Gate. This brought peace to the world. One of these enemies is O-gwi, a dangerous crow played by Park Hyung-sik. The seal on the Hell Gate weakens, and evil returns. The angels must come together to fight again .

The leader of the zodiac angels is Tae-san, shown by Ma Dong-seok. He is the tiger spirit. The other angels include Won-seung (monkey) played by Seo In-guk, Mir (dragon) played by Lee Joo-bin, and Don-yi (pig) played by Go Kyu-pil. Kang Mi-na is Gang-ji, the dog angel. Sung Yoo-bin acts as Jwi-dol, the rat angel. Ahn Ji-hye is Mal-sook, the horse angel. Regina Lei plays Bang-wool, the snake angel. Veteran actor Sung Dong-il is Ma-rok, a human chosen by the gods to help the angels. The Ox, Goat, and Rabbit angels, played by Na In-woo, Han Ye-ji, and Bae Yoo-ram, have not yet appeared in the first two episodes .

The Story Begins in Episode One

Tae-san is the leader of the Twelve and the CEO of Angel Capital Group. This company lends money only to gangsters and former prisoners. He visits Jo Yang-su in jail because of unpaid debts. Yang-su will not give his assets. Tae-san warns him and then tells Jwi-dol to pay Yang-suโ€™s bail .

At the office, Mal-sook, Won-seung, and Kang-ji follow a lead from Jwi-dol. In another place, Detective Ma-rok borrows money from Tae-san. He buys clothes for Mir, who is Tae-san’s old lover. Mir now works at a museum teaching children about the twelve zodiac angels. She does not accept the gift because she is upset that Ma-rok used Tae-san’s money .

Bang-wool and Do-ni work at an oriental clinic. That night, Yang-su celebrates his release from prison with his gang and girlfriend. Tae-san calls to say he is coming. Yang-su tells his men to kill Tae-san. But Tae-san easily defeats them. Yang-su becomes scared, says sorry, and pays his debt .

Later, Tae-san visits Geum-soon, a woman he has known since they were children. He saved her family from debt collectors. She now runs a Tteokbokki stand like her late mother. She tells Tae-san that many people are still thankful for his help. Their talk is interrupted by Man-book, who scolds Tae-san for speaking casually to Geum-soon. Man-book recognizes Tae-san and is shocked that he has not aged. He hugs him .

At the police station, Ma-rok eats while watching news about new Paleolithic relics. Scientists preparing these relics notice strange energy spikes. In another place, a priest named Samin cuts his own hand during a ritual. He awakens a demon sealed in a rock. A red-eyed man with large wings, played by Park Hyung-sik, appears. This ends the first episode .

Flashbacks and Fights in Episode Two

The second episode shows Tae-san drinking alone and thinking about the past. A flashback shows thugs attacking a village. Tae-san steps in to help. When the situation gets worse, Mir uses her powers to take down two of them. The villagers are shocked by her display and whisper about her true identity .

That night, the people Tae-san protected visit his place. They bring food, drinks, and expensive liquor as thanks. After drinking, Tae-san and the angels collapse. Tae-san later wakes up to find Mir tied up. The villagers accuse her of being a demon. They set a fire around her. Tae-san saves her and forces the villagers to run away. He then warns the angels to never get involved with humans again .

Meanwhile, O-gwi comes into the human world. He remembers the priest who freed him and learns that the angels are still alive. He recalls his eternal imprisonment in Hell. He was trapped between life and death after he went against God and brought destruction to the world .

Later, the angels, except Tae-san and Mir, enjoy themselves by drinking and laughing. At the same time, Mir sits alone in a bar. She sees visions of O-gwi. She notices a glass of wine in front of her. Two men try to lure her away, but she quickly defeats them .

Elsewhere, O-gwi questions Samin about what he did while O-gwi was gone. Samin admits that after Haetaeโ€™s death and the sealing of the Hellmouth, his powers were taken away. He says he can still feel Haetaeโ€™s energy. He explains that after Haetae was defeated, three soul stones were left. If O-gwi uses their power for the Dragon Soul, Haetaeโ€™s strength can come back .

Meanwhile, Tae-san confronts another thug and collects money. Later, he looks for his medication in his car but cannot find it. He visits the doctor to get treatment. On O-gwi’s side, the priest becomes angry after O-gwi rejects his plan to work together. The priest starts plotting against him .

At the same time, the angels sense the rise of evil through their glowing lockets. Mir is the last to get the signal because she is at her office and misses her managerโ€™s calls. Soon, demons chase her. The other angels arrive and start a fierce battle. The episode ends with Tae-san returning home and seeing his locket glow brightly .

The Team of Angels and Their Mission

The angels have lived in human form for a long time to protect people. They fought a battle against evil forces that wanted to cover the world in darkness. They barely managed to seal the Gates of Hell. But they lost four angels and had their special powers sealed away .

Hurt by the loss of their friends, Tae-san and the seven other angels have been living quietly among humans. But when Priest Sa Min, played by Kim Chan Hyeong, awakens O-gwi, darkness starts to spread again. The priest says,

“I will now turn the world into hell and transform all humans into demons” .

Tae-san had promised never to get involved in human matters again. The angels doubt if they can fight O-gwi without their powers. But Ma-rok, their guide, tells them,

“The reason we exist is to help humans” .

This gives them courage. The stills from the show highlight the close friendship of the eight angels. They have spent thousands of years together and can understand each other’s feelings with just a look. Their teamwork becomes important when evil rises again .

The empty spot left for Mir in group photos makes people curious about where she is. Tae-san is seen hitting something with a hammer while the other angels watch closely. This makes viewers excited for the action in the fight against evil .

The Future of the Battle

Twelve is streaming on U+ Mobile TV in South Korea and on Disney+ in selected regions. The series has eight episodes. Fans in Europe have mentioned that the show is not available on Disney+ there .

The show combines zodiac myths with action and drama. Park Hyung-sik’s role as the villain O-gwi is a big change from his usual nice characters. Ma Dong-seok leads a strong cast that includes Seo In-guk, Lee Joo-bin, and others. The first two episodes set the stage for an epic battle between good and evil. Viewers can expect more exciting episodes as the angels fight to protect the world once again .
