The Rainmaker Season 1 Episode 7 leaves its main character, Rudy Baylor, behind bars while unveiling a dangerous conspiracy. The episode, which aired on September 26, 2025, concludes with a secret meeting that changes everything, connecting the past to the present in a dangerous way.

The Final Scene: Leo and Prince’s Parking Lot Meeting

The ending of Episode 7 shows Leo Drummond, the powerful managing partner of the Tinley Britt law firm, meeting Prince Thomas in a dark, isolated location. Prince is the owner of the bar where Rudy works and has previously helped him. However, this meeting reveals a different side to their relationship.

Leo hands Prince a large sum of cash and asks him for a big favor. He wants Prince to find the missing nurse, Jackie Lemancyzk, and the dangerous nurse, Melvin Pritcher. The language Leo uses is cryptic, with phrases like “top shelf them,” which suggests he may want Prince to make them disappear permanently.

Their conversation reveals that they have a shared history. Leo mentions trusting Prince, and Prince brings up a past collaboration that led to the imprisonment of Lyman Stone, who is Bruiser’s father. Prince seems concerned that working together again could lead to similar problems, but Leo dismisses the worry, stating that it was Lyman who went to prison, not them. This twist shows that Leo and Prince have been involved in shady activities long before the current case began.

Rudy’s Arrest and the Truth About Cliff’s Death

The main action of the episode revolves around the death of Kelly’s abusive husband, Cliff. After tracking Kelly to Dot Black’s house, Cliff hides in the bathroom and attacks her. A violent struggle ensues, ending with Cliff being shot.

Rudy initially claims he shot Cliff in self-defense and is arrested for murder. His mentor, Bruiser Stone, acts as his lawyer. However, upon investigating the crime scene, Bruiser discovers the truth. The evidence, including the angle of a third bullet, proves that Kelly was the one who pulled the trigger to save Rudy from being killed.

Bruiser confronts Rudy and Kelly, convincing them that hiding the truth will only hurt their case. She tells Kelly, “Your silence could put Rudy behind bars forever.” Kelly decides to confess. Bruiser then meets with the prosecutor, Robert Quinn, and presents the facts of Kelly’s long history of abuse. She successfully argues that Kelly acted in self-defense, leading Quinn to drop all charges against both Rudy and Kelly.

Kelly’s Decision to Leave

With the legal trouble over, Kelly makes a life-changing decision. She reveals to Rudy that she has access to money Cliff had saved and plans to use it to start a new life in a different town. This decision marks a bittersweet moment for their relationship.

While there were hints of a possible romance, the episode chooses a different path. In a heartfelt scene, Kelly thanks Rudy for everything but explains she needs to move on alone. Before leaving, she gives Dot a deeply meaningful gift: the jewelry box that Dot’s son, Donny Ray, was making for her before he died. Kelly finished crafting the box, giving Dot a sense of closure and connection to her son.

Series creator Michael Seitzman explained the choice to avoid a romantic scene between Rudy and Kelly, noting it felt wrong after the trauma Kelly experienced. “I didn’t want the audience to be turned on by the moment or to be confused by the moment,” Seitzman said. Actor Milo Callaghan added that for Rudy, taking advantage of someone so vulnerable would go against his character’s values.

What This Means for the Future

Leo’s secret deal with Prince introduces a major threat to Rudy and Bruiser’s case. Prince, who was involved in the events that sent Bruiser’s father to prison, is now being paid to handle the two key witnesses. Jackie possesses a flash drive with the Tissue Committee report that could prove the hospital covered up 15 patient deaths, including Donny Ray’s.

This development directly ties Bruiser’s personal mission to clear her father’s name to Rudy’s current case against the hospital. The search for Jackie and Melvin Pritcher has become much more dangerous.

Meanwhile, at Tinley Britt, Sarah Plankmore continues her own investigation into the Tissue Committee. She visits Jackie’s ex-boyfriend, Charlie, in the hospital after his wife was attacked by Pritcher. Charlie denies knowing about the flash drive, but it is revealed he actually has it, setting up a future confrontation.
