A former contestant from the K-pop audition show ‘Boys II Planet‘ is being celebrated online after video footage showed him helping to stop a drunk man who was assaulting a taxi driver. Sun Hengyu, a singer and trainee, indirectly confirmed his involvement after the clips went viral, reassuring fans that he was not hurt.
What the Videos Showed
The incident, which gained widespread attention on October 3, was captured in a series of videos shared on social media platform X. The first clip shows an alarming scene where one man is aggressively assaulting another man, who is believed to be a taxi driver, on the road.
In subsequent footage, a group of about four people are seen working together to subdue the aggressive man, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. One of the individuals, wearing a gray top and black pants, was identified by fans as Sun Hengyu. In the video, this person can be seen using a chokehold technique to help restrain the attacker and bring the situation under control. A voice in the video, also believed to be Sun Hengyu’s, is heard saying, “We are filming! Don’t break it!”
Fan Reaction and Sun Hengyu’s Response
The online community was quick to praise the former idol trainee for his courageous actions. As the video spread across social media, many fans and netizens visited Sun Hengyu’s Instagram to express their concern for his safety and to thank him for his intervention.
In response to the growing attention, Sun Hengyu posted a message on his Instagram story to address the situation. He wrote:
“I’m fine. I wasn’t hurt, so please don’t worry.”
This indirect confirmation solidified his role in the event. Who is Sun Hengyu?
Sun Hengyu is a Chinese singer who initially debuted as a member of the K-pop boy group BLANK2Y in May 2022. After the group disbanded in 2023, he changed agencies and later promoted with the boy group DV.OL. In a bid to continue pursuing his music career, he appeared as a contestant on Mnet’s recent audition program ‘Boys II Planet’, where he placed 20th.
His actions have sparked a new wave of support for him, with many fans now expressing a desire to see him debut as an idol again, citing his good character.
