The trailer for the new season, which premieres on October 16 on CBS, shows Georgie Cooper announcing that McAllister Auto & Tire is now under new management. When asked what the new name will be, Georgie dreamily suggests, “Dr. Tire.” This name will be instantly familiar to dedicated fans of The Big Bang Theory.
In a 2018 episode of The Big Bang Theory, an adult Georgie, played by Jerry O’Connell, was revealed to be the highly successful “Tire King of Texas” running a chain of shops called Dr. Tire. The new trailer finally shows the origin of that business, answering a question that has been on fans’ minds for seven years. However, the path to building his empire isn’t smooth. The trailer shows that Georgie and his business partner, Ruben, disagree on everything, including the shop’s new name.
Connecting to The Big Bang Theory Past
The introduction of the Dr. Tire name is a major event for the show’s storyline. On The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper even made a fuss about his brother using the “Dr.” title without having earned a doctorate degree. Holland said, “It’s possible that he and Ruben have a falling out. It’s also possible that Ruben is a silent partner and Georgie is the face of Dr. Tire.”

The second season will continue to follow Georgie and Mandy as they navigate early marriage and parenthood while living with Mandy’s parents. The official description for the season premiere states that Georgie and Ruben realize they can’t agree on anything after becoming partners at the tire shop. Meanwhile, Mandy’s father, Jim, struggles to find a new purpose in his retirement.
