A new clip from the upcoming The Witcher Season 4 has been revealed, giving fans their first extended look at the dynamic between Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia and his new companion, Regis, played by Laurence Fishburne. The scene highlights the immediate chemistry between the witcher and the mysterious barber-surgeon as Geralt continues his quest across the war-torn Continent.

Geralt and Regis’s First Meeting

The newly released clip features a conversation between Geralt and Regis, focusing on Geralt’s recovery from a battle injury. Geralt explains that his wound was caused by a Wraith, a ghostly and vengeful spirit, and casually remarks, “I’ll live.” Regis, using his medical knowledge, sees a more serious situation and tells Geralt, “This wound is much deeper than that. Seems you turned to magic, to heal, rather than rest.”

Ever the stubborn witcher, Geralt dismisses the need for recovery time, stating, “I don’t have time to rest.” The dialogue establishes Regis in his role as a healer and a voice of reason, while also showcasing Geralt’s single-minded determination to keep moving forward. The clip confirms that Regis will be a part of Geralt’s Hansaโ€”the fellowship that forms to find and rescue Ciri.

Who Is the New Character Regis?

Laurence Fishburne joins the cast as Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, a character beloved by fans of the original book series and the popular video games. Regis is a barber-surgeon, a profession that in this world includes providing medical care. However, he carries a significant secret: he is a Higher Vampire who has chosen to abstain from drinking blood.

His character is defined by immense wisdom, a peaceful demeanor, and extraordinary abilities gained from his centuries of life. These powers include immortality, enhanced strength and speed, rapid healing, and shape-shifting. Despite his supernatural nature, Regis is a compassionate and loyal ally. Fishburne expressed his enthusiasm about joining the fantasy series, saying:

โ€œI was just really excited to be a part of this world. I’m a big fan of fantasy and science fiction, and when they asked me to join them, I was like, ‘Oh, this is interesting.’ This is something I’ve always wished to be able to do, and now I’m getting an opportunity to do it.โ€

A Pivotal Partnership for the Quest

Regis is not just a passing acquaintance; he becomes a core member of Geralt’s traveling group, known as “Geralt’s Hansa.” This band of companions will be crucial to Geralt’s mission. The show’s creator, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has explained that Season 4 sees the main characters on separate, transformative journeys. For Geralt, this means learning to rely on others.

The new clip supports this narrative direction, showing the beginning of a trusted partnership. Regis’s medical expertise and supernatural insight will provide Geralt with much-needed support as he navigates a Continent ravaged by war and filled with new threats. Their alliance marks a significant shift for Geralt, who must now embrace the help of a found family to achieve his goals.

The Bigger Picture of Season 4

The Witcher Season 4 premieres on October 30, 2025, on Netflix. This season adapts storylines from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels Baptism of Fire and The Tower of the Swallow. The story follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, who are all separated and facing their own challenges after the devastating events of Season 3.

Geralt, now played by Liam Hemsworth, is more determined than ever to find Ciri and ensure her safety. Yennefer is stepping into a new leadership role at Aretuza, while Ciri is hiding with a band of teenage outlaws known as the Rats, using the alias “Falka.” They are all navigating a world where old alliances have shattered and new dangers emerge at every turn.

In addition to Laurence Fishburne as Regis, other new cast members include Sharlto Copley as the fearsome bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as the dwarf Zoltan. The season will also see the return of familiar faces like Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allen as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.
