Fans of the legal drama The Rainmaker are eagerly waiting for news about a second season after the first season concluded on October 17, 2025. While the show has not been officially renewed by the USA Network, the cast and creator are excited about the possibility and have started sharing their ideas for where the story could go next.

The Current Status of Season 2

As of now, USA Network has not announced the renewal of The Rainmaker for a second season. The first season finale aired in mid-October 2025, and the network has not yet made a decision public. However, the show performed well in the ratings, becoming the most-watched new series for the network in years, which has fueled optimism for its return.

The show’s creator, Michael Seitzman, confirmed that while a second season is not yet official, he is actively thinking about potential storylines. He has expressed a deep affection for the characters and the actors who portray them, making the decision about the show’s future a personal one.

โ€œI have a lot of ideas for Season 2, but none of them have really calcified yet in my mind, and some of them include those characters, and some of them donโ€™t,โ€ Seitzman told TV Insider.

The Cast is Ready for More

The main stars of the show have made it clear they are eager to return for more episodes. Milo Callaghan, who plays the lead character Rudy Baylor, has enthusiastically voiced his commitment to the series.

โ€œIโ€™m here for seven seasons, so letโ€™s go,โ€ Callaghan said. โ€œWeโ€™re always having conversationsโ€ฆ I hope we get the gang back together.โ€

Other cast members are also on board. P.J. Byrne, who plays paralegal Deck Shifflet, wants to see the firm take on even bigger challenges. He expressed a desire to “go fight bigger, badder humans.” Meanwhile, Lana Parrilla, who plays lawyer Jocelyn ‘Bruiser’ Stone, hopes a second season would explore her character’s personal life, specifically her relationships with men.

Robyn Cara, who plays Kelly Riker, shared her hopes for her character’s journey, wanting to explore “her joy a little bit more” after her character’s difficult storyline in the first season.

Potential Storylines for a New Season

The first season adapted the core story from John Grisham’s 1995 novel, which provided a conclusive ending for Rudy Baylor’s first major case. This gives the creators freedom to chart new territory for a potential second season.

Creator Michael Seitzman is considering different approaches. One idea is to start with a mostly clean slate, bringing back only the main characters who are not in legal trouble and treating the first season’s events as backstory. Another idea he is weighing is how to bring back the full ensemble of characters that fans have grown to love.

The first season’s ending saw Rudy and his team successfully win a massive lawsuit against the powerful Great Benefit Hospital. With the main case resolved, a second season could follow the growth of their law firm and introduce new legal battles and adversaries. It could also delve into the consequences for characters like Leo Drummond and the future of Sarah Plankmore at the Tinley Britt firm.

How Fans Have Reacted

Since the season one finale, fan discussion online has been generally positive, with many expressing hope that the show will continue. On forums and social media, viewers have praised the casting and the show’s momentum.

One fan commented on an entertainment site, “Best series Iโ€™ve watched in ages. The casting was perfect.” Another simply wrote, “bring it back!”
