A BTS fan, who was swindled out of a staggering 738 million KRW, that is 550,000 USD and 4.5 Cr INR, finally sees justice served. The fraudster, a 41-year-old man, has been sentenced to four years in prison for his deceitful actions.

The fan, whose admiration for the globally acclaimed K-pop group BTS was exploited, was promised a golden opportunity to work with the band. The fraudster claimed to have connections with HYBE, BTSโ€™ agency, and lured the victim with the prospect of participating in a video shoot on Jeju Island.

Over a period of six months, from July 2021 to January 2022, the victim made a total of 153 payments to the fraudster. The fan even resorted to taking out substantial loans to meet the costs. Despite the fraudster reimbursing 131 million KRW to the victim, the court deemed it insufficient to lessen the severity of his actions.

The Seoul Central District Court highlighted the emotional and financial toll the crime had taken on the victim. Investigations revealed that the fraudster had a history of fraud convictions, having been sentenced to one year and eight months in jail in 2019.

In other news, BTS continues to make waves in the music industry. As members fulfill their mandatory military service, fans eagerly await their return. Jinโ€™s discharge is just 77 days away, stirring anticipation among the ARMYs.

J-Hopeโ€™s much-anticipated six-part docu-series, HOPE ON THE STREET, is set to premiere on March 28. This will be followed by the release of his related album, HOPE ON THE STREET Vol. 1, on March 29, featuring collaborations with Jungkook and LE SSERAFIMโ€™s Huh Yunjin.

Adding to the excitement, SUGAโ€™s Agust D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE is scheduled for a global cinematic premiere on April 10 and 13. The film promises to capture the essence of SUGAโ€™s solo journey, offering a glimpse into emotional moments from his concerts, with appearances by fellow BTS members Jungkook, RM, and Jimin.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dark side of fandom, where admiration can be manipulated for personal gain. However, the swift justice delivered offers some solace to the victim and serves as a deterrent for potential fraudsters.
