The latest 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Tell All special put couples on the hot seat, but one star’s straightforward reason for going through his wife’s phone has everyone talking. Andrei Castravet did not hesitate to explain his actions when questioned about privacy in his marriage to Elizabeth Potthast.
The Season 9 Tell All Part 1, which aired on November 9, 2025, featured multiple couples confronting past conflicts and personal boundaries. A major topic of discussion was whether the cast members had ever snooped through their partner’s private messages. When host Shaun Robinson asked Andrei if he had been through Elizabeth’s phone, he confidently admitted that he had.
Andrei stated, “Yeah. I logged in into my account which is my account, I pay for it. I logged in and looked.” His justification was simple: because he is the one who pays the phone bill, he felt entitled to access the account. This revelation sparked a broader conversation among the other couples about trust and privacy in their own relationships.
Other Couples React to the Phone Snooping Question
Andrei’s admission opened the floodgates for other stars to share their own experiences with phone privacy, or the lack thereof.
Darcey Silva was the next to face the question and admitted she had recently checked her partner Georgi Rusev’s phone. She explained her actions by saying, “I don’t like, just…just…I already had the phone in my hand, and I was like, Okay, it’s my chance.” She revealed that she found messages from “some girls” about a spa. Georgi, however, denied going through Darcey’s phone, though she claimed he often lurks over her shoulder while she uses it.
The couple Kara and Guillermo had a different story. Guillermo contradicted Kara’s initial “no” by stating, “No no no no no no. We have done it. Both of us. To each other.” Kara then recalled a specific incident early in their relationship when they were not yet committed. She found messages Guillermo had sent to another woman, discovering he had used the same romantic line—“Oh! I wish you were here to look at the moon with me”—with both of them.
In contrast, Yara shared that she no longer bothers with Jovi’s phone because it is “boring” and has “no action.” She even recalled a past argument where Jovi was initially reluctant to hand over his phone, only for her to become furious when she found nothing interesting on it.
Andrei and Elizabeth’s History of Trust Issues
This is not the first time trust and financial secrecy have caused problems in Andrei and Elizabeth’s marriage. Their relationship has been tested by several major incidents that eroded Elizabeth’s trust.
Earlier in Season 9, a massive secret came to light during a family trip to Moldova. Andrei revealed he had lost $75,000 due to a bad investment in a rental property. The situation was worsened by the fact that he had kept the loss a secret from Elizabeth for a long time. When he finally showed her the property, which was filled with garbage and had seen no progress, she was devastated.
Elizabeth felt deeply betrayed, telling him, “Why didn’t you tell me? Keep me in the know.” She was so upset by the deception that she changed her flight and left Moldova with her father and their children, leaving Andrei behind to explain the situation to his family. This was not Andrei’s first controversial financial decision; he has a history of failed business ventures, including a truck driving career and a real estate ambition that required a large investment from Elizabeth’s father.
Fan Suspicions of Produced Storylines
Long-time viewers of the show often question how real the conflicts are. Past storylines, including a dramatic deportation scare for Andrei, led many fans to believe that producers create or exaggerate drama for television.
During a previous season, when Andrei was called in for an extra immigration interview, fans on Reddit were quick to call the situation “scripted” and pointed to “bad acting.” One fan commented, “No one called. The producers threw this in to make them ‘interesting.’” Similarly, the couple’s recent exploration of moving to Moldova was met with skepticism, with some viewers calling the plot “100% fake and manufactured by the producers.”
Despite the doubts about produced storylines, the tension around phone privacy and financial secrets appears to be a genuine and recurring issue for Andrei and Elizabeth as they navigate their marriage in the public eye.
