The latest episode of Typhoon Family brings a high-stakes government contract into focus, forcing the team to pull out all the stops. Amid the professional scramble, personal relationships reach a turning point, with Tae-poong laying his heart on the line and Mi-seon struggling to balance her career ambitions with her feelings.
A Threat From The Past Intensifies
The episode opens with a tense confrontation, as Pyo Bak-ho assaults Cha Seon-taek, demanding to know the whereabouts of a crucial promissory note. This IOU is proof that Bak-ho owed a significant debt to Tae-poong’s late father. It is revealed that Bak-ho previously bribed Seon-taek to find and destroy the note, taking advantage of her family’s desperate financial situation. Although she tore a page from the company ledger during her search, she never found the actual note. Bak-ho, unsatisfied, threatens her son, forcing her to continue the hunt.
This missing document fuels Tae-poong’s own suspicions. At home, he confesses to his mother that he believes his father was worried about more than just business troubles before his death, prompting him to dig deeper into the company’s old records.
A New Lifeline in a Government Project
Searching for a stable client to secure Typhoon Trading’s future, Tae-poong visits the Public Procurement Service (PPS). By chance, he stumbles upon a meeting for a Korean foreign aid project aimed at building schools and hospitals in Africa. Tae-poong sees a golden opportunity: the project needs suppliers for various goods, and surgical gloves are the only item without a bidder. He becomes determined to win this government contract, believing it offers the security the company desperately needs.
His colleagues are initially skeptical, noting that such deals usually go to large corporations. However, former employee Cha Seon-taek mentions that Kang Jin-young and the former vice-CEO, Koo Myung-gwan, once worked on a public sector project, highlighting the need for his expertise.
An Unlikely Savior and a Professional Boundary
Tae-poong and Mi-seon track down Myung-gwan, only to find he has joined a religious cult obsessed with the Y2K phenomenon. Their attempts to talk to him get them kicked out of the church. Despite this setback, Typhoon Trading is approved to bid for the gloves after Myung-gwan briefly reappears at the office. He advises the team to file an appeal against the PPS for discrimination, a tactic that successfully intimidates the bureaucrat in charge.
Just as their path seems clear, a familiar rival intervenes. Hyun-jun, Bak-ho’s son, sees Tae-poong at the PPS and spitefully changes his own company’s bid to compete for the surgical gloves contract, igniting a direct price war.
A new crisis emerges when the team must print a manual in French. With their printer failing, hope seems lost until Koo Myung-gwan arrives and single-handedly writes the entire document in flawless French calligraphy, saving their bid.
Amid the professional chaos, Mi-seon sets a firm personal boundary. During a dinner, she tells Tae-poong she needs to focus on her career and cannot rely on the “emotional comfort” he provides, asking him to keep their relationship professional for now.
A Love Confession Under the Night Sky
After a celebratory dinner with the team, a slightly drunk Tae-poong walks Mi-seon home. He tells her he cannot pretend his feelings don’t exist and openly confesses his love.
He tells her he loves her, even though it is one-sided.
This confession leaves Mi-seon stunned. While her feelings for him are real, she is determined to build her own identity and career before embracing romance, creating a painful divide between the two.
Romance and a Secret
In a sweeter subplot, the romance between Mi-ho and Nam-mo continues to grow. Mi-ho confides in Nam-mo that her dream is to earn enough money to send her sister, Mi-seon, to college. In response, Nam-mo tells her that she herself has become his new dream. In a separate development, Nam-mo’s mother, Eul-nyeo, has taken a job as a cleaning lady at the shopping center where Mi-ho works. The two women have a friendly interaction, with Mi-ho fixing Eul-nyeo’s hair, completely unaware that she is her boyfriend’s mother.
