The cast for Hulu’s next big limited series just got a major upgrade. Kit Harington, known globally for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, is joining the upcoming thriller Count My Lies. He will star opposite the previously announced leads Shailene Woodley and Lindsay Lohan. Haringtonโs casting, confirmed on December 4, fills the final key role in this story about lies, secrets, and a picture-perfect family that is not what it seems.
The Story Behind the Secrets
Count My Lies is based on the debut novel of the same name by Sophie Stava. The book, which was a Good Morning America book club pick in March 2025, tells a twist-filled story.
The plot centers on Sloane Caraway, a young woman who tells small, mostly harmless lies to make her life seem more interesting. Her life changes when she sees a young girl crying in a park. Sloane tells the girl’s father she is a nurse and helps him remove a bee stinger from the girl’s foot. This single lie leads to a new job. Sloane becomes the nanny for Jay and Violet Lockhart, a wealthy and glamorous New York couple. They appear to have a perfect life with a beautiful home, a daughter in private school, and summers on Block Island.
โBut maybe Sloane isnโt the only one lying, and all thatโs picture-perfect harbors a much more dangerous truth,โ the bookโs synopsis warns.
Sloane believes she has found her dream job, but she soon realizes the Lockhart household is filled with dangerous secrets. The official description for the series states these secrets are “about to explode โ with potentially catastrophic consequences for all”.
A Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team
The series brings together actors from different celebrated projects. Shailene Woodley will play the lead role of Sloane Caraway, the compulsive liar who becomes the nanny. Lindsay Lohan plays Violet Lockhart, the seemingly perfect wife and mother. This marks Lohan’s first leading role in a television series.
Kit Harington completes the central trio as Jay Lockhart, Violet’s husband. He joins the project as it continues development at Hulu.
Behind the camera, the series is in experienced hands. The writers and showrunners are Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. They are best known as the executive producers and co-showrunners of the popular NBC drama This Is Us. They will executive produce the series through their company, The Walk-Up Company. Director Antonio Campos is also attached to executive produce.
In addition to starring, both Lindsay Lohan and Shailene Woodley will serve as executive producers on the series. Author Sophie Stava is a producer on the adaptation. The studio producing the show is 20th Television.
