The cast for FX’s new high-stakes family drama Cry Wolf is now set, bringing together major stars for a tense story. Alyvia Alyn Lind, known for her role in the recent Netflix series Wayward, has joined the project as a lead. She will star alongside Oscar winners Olivia Colman and Brie Larson. The series will explore a family crisis triggered by a teenager’s serious allegation.

What Is The Cry Wolf Series About?

Cry Wolf is a new limited series for FX described as a psychological family thriller. The story is inspired by the Danish series Ulven Kommer (which translates to Cry Wolf) created by Maja Jul Larsen.

The plot follows a social worker named Kath, played by Olivia Colman, and a mother named April, played by Brie Larson. Their lives are thrown into chaos when April’s teenage daughter, Mia, makes an allegation of abuse. This accusation forces both women into an incredibly difficult situation, testing their beliefs and emotional strength.

Shawn Hatosy has been cast as April’s husband and Mia’s stepfather, the person at the center of the girl’s claims. Young actor Jack Greig will play April’s son.

Alyvia Alyn Lind’s Key Role and Career

Alyvia Alyn Lind will play Mia, the teenage daughter whose allegation sets the entire story in motion. Her character is expected to be the emotional core of the series, with her actions pushing the adult characters to their limits.

“Alyvia and Sydney really carry the emotional heart of the show,” said Mae Martin, creator and co-star of Wayward, about Lind’s performance in that series.

Lind is coming off a major role in the 2025 Netflix mystery thriller Wayward. In that series, she played Leila, a rebellious teenager who infiltrates a sinister academy for troubled teens to rescue her best friend. The show also starred Toni Collette and premiered on September 25, 2025.

Before Wayward, Lind was well-known for playing Lexy Cross in the Syfy/USA horror series Chucky from 2021 to 2024. She also played the female lead in Netflix’s Daybreak and was part of the main cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles for Roku.

Soap opera fans may recognize Lind from her long-running role as Faith Newman on The Young and the Restless, which she played from 2011 to 2021. Her early work included playing a young Dolly Parton in the NBC television movies Dolly Partonโ€™s Coat of Many Colors and its holiday sequel, which earned her a Critics Choice Award nomination.

The Creative Team Behind the Series

The series was created and will be showrun by Sarah Treem. Treem is best known as the co-creator and showrunner of the acclaimed Showtime drama The Affair, which won a Golden Globe for Best Drama Series in 2015. Her other writing credits include House of Cards and In Treatment.

Treem will also executive produce the series alongside Olivia Colman, who is producing through her company South of the River Pictures. Brie Larson and Melissa Bernstein of Special Interests are also executive producers. The series is a production of FX Productions.

Olivia Colman and Brie Larson’s Involvement

Both of the series’ leading actresses are also involved behind the scenes as executive producers. For Olivia Colman, this marks a continued relationship with FX. She recently appeared in multiple episodes of the network’s hit series The Bear, earning an Emmy nomination for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy. She also starred in FX’s 2023 limited series adaptation of Great Expectations as Miss Havisham.

Colman is an acclaimed actress with an Academy Award win for The Favourite and nominations for The Father and The Lost Daughter. On television, she won an Emmy for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown.

Brie Larson won her Academy Award for the 2015 film Room. She is widely known for playing Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On television, she earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her leading role in the Apple TV+ series Lessons in Chemistry.

What Fans Are Saying About the Casting

The announcement of the cast has generated significant attention online. Many fans have expressed excitement about seeing the three actresses work together in such a dramatic, character-driven story.
