Season 3 of Tell Me Lies is set to bring back the chaos viewers love, with the main cast returning and new faces arriving to stir up more drama. The story picks up after the explosive Season 2 wedding, promising a messier chapter for Lucy, Stephen, and their friends. Grace Van Patten and Jackson White are back as the show’s core toxic couple, leading an ensemble that includes both familiar favorites and intriguing newcomers. The season will premiere on Hulu on January 13, 2026.
The Core Couple and Main Returning Cast
The turbulent relationship between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco remains the show’s driving force. Grace Van Patten returns as Lucy, the college student perpetually caught in Stephen’s web. Jackson White reprises his role as the manipulative and self-destructive Stephen.
Van Patten described the upcoming season as the peak of the characters’ worst decisions. She shared her excitement about the new episodes in an interview, stating, “I canโt say too much but fans are in for a crazy ride this season! I think itโs the messiest yet”.
The rest of the central friend group is also returning to face the fallout from last season’s secrets.
- Catherine Missal is back as Bree, whose storyline becomes central after she discovers Evan’s betrayal at their wedding.
- Sonia Mena returns as Pippa, with her romance with Diana expected to be a focus.
- Branden Cook reprises his role as Evan, who must answer for confessing to cheating on Bree with Lucy.
- Spencer House returns as Wrigley.
- Alicia Crowder is back as Diana, Pippa’s love interest.
New Characters Joining the Cast in Season 3
Two new series regulars are joining the Baird College circle, and both are connected to secrets from the past.
Costa DโAngelo joins the cast as Alex, a psychology graduate student with a dangerous side hustle as a part-time drug dealer. His character has a previously unknown and complicated history with Bree, which is expected to create major disruptions when he arrives.
Iris Apatow has a recurring role as Amanda, described as a bubbly but fragile college freshman who is keeping a big secret of her own. Her character will be a new student at Baird College.
The Status of Other Supporting Characters
Actor Tom Ellis, who joined the show in Season 2 as Oliver, is confirmed to return for Season 3. This contradicts earlier reports that his storyline was complete.
The return of Thomas Doherty as Leo is currently unconfirmed. Reports indicate he was filming another project during production, so his appearance may be limited or not happen at all. Doherty himself hinted that there might be more to his character, telling Us Weekly, “Maybe Leo isnโt all that he seems. There is a lot to do with him”.
Other returning supporting cast members include Katherine Hughes and Natalee Linez.
What Season 3 Will Be About
The official synopsis reveals that Season 3 finds Lucy and Stephen having rekindled their romance during the spring semester at Baird College. While they promise change, past mistakes haunt them, and Lucy gets pulled into a controversy she wants to avoid. The consequences of the previous year’s events force their entire friend group to confront their own destructive behavior.
The season will directly follow the cliffhanger from the Season 2 finale, where Bree received an audio recording of Evan confessing to sleeping with Lucy just before their wedding. Showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer promised the new season is “as dark, toxic, and funny as ever” and that the characters will find new ways to be ridiculous.
The balance between the show’s two timelinesโ2008 and 2015โis also expected to shift. Oppenheimer suggested that while some 2008 storylines need wrapping up, Season 3 will likely feature more of the 2015 timeline.
