Who is Behind the Scenes?
The series has a celebrated creative team. It is written by the famous Hong sisters, Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran. They are known for creating some of South Korea’s most beloved romantic and fantasy series, including Hotel del Luna and Alchemy of Souls.
Directing is Yoo Young-eun, who previously directed the historical drama Bloody Heart. The director shared that filming for the series wrapped up in early 2025.
Where Was the Show Filmed?
Production took the cast and crew across the globe. Filming started in June 2024. Early scenes were shot in Japan in June and July of 2024.
Later, the team traveled for an extensive overseas shoot. Key filming occurred in the Canadian province of Alberta from late September to October 2024. Locations included the scenic areas of Canmore, Banff, and Lake Louise. Kim Seon-ho and Go Youn-jung even shared social media posts about seeing the aurora borealis while in Canada.
The production then moved to Italy. Scenes were filmed in historic cities like Siena and Perugia during November and December 2024.
When and How Can You Watch It?
Can This Love Be Translated? will be available worldwide only on Netflix. All episodes are scheduled for release on January 16, 2026. The series is confirmed to have 12 episodes. Fans of romantic comedies and K-dramas can mark their calendars for this global story about love and understanding.
