The first look of Vidyut Jammwal in the live-action Street Fighter movie has ignited social media. For his Hollywood debut, the actor is playing the iconic yogi warrior Dhalsim, and his dramatic transformationโcomplete with a completely shaved head and intricate body artโhas become the talk of the internet.
The 45-second teaser trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2025, giving fans a high-energy glimpse of the film’s large ensemble cast and a story set in 1993. The film, which also stars Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Jason Momoa as Blanka, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
Vidyut Jammwal’s Dramatic Transformation for Dhalsim
Vidyut Jammwal’s appearance in the teaser is a significant departure from his usual look. To become Dhalsim, the actor shaved his head and adopted a physical style that makes him nearly unrecognizable.
His look in the film includes:
- A clean-shaven head marked with bold red stripes.
- A lean, muscular physique adorned with rustic, tattered orange drapes.
- Heavy metal bangles and tribal accessories.
- Kohl-lined eyes and a focused, martial-arts-ready expression.
The official poster shared for his character carried the tagline: “Stretch beyond your limits. VIDYUT JAMMWAL is DHALSIM”. In the teaser, Dhalsim is described as a “fundamentally peaceful man who fights to support his family,” a mystic yogi with unique abilities.

The Movie’s Plot and Behind-the-Scenes Details
The film’s official synopsis sets up the story. It follows estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), who are pulled back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.
The tournament is described as a “brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.” However, the fighters soon discover a deadly conspiracy behind the battles, which forces them to confront each other and their own past demons.
A humorous behind-the-scenes story emerged from co-star Andrew Schulz, who plays Dan Hibiki. On his podcast, Schulz recalled meeting Vidyut Jammwal for the first time and mistaking the actor’s personal, yogi-style clothing for his movie costume.
Schulz also shared a surprising fact about Jammwal’s fitness philosophy, noting, “He plays Dhalsim, and he said he doesn’t believe in proteinโฆ He goes protein is a myth”. This references Jammwal’s well-known plant-based diet and natural approach to building his physique.
The teaser trailer suggests the film will embrace a bright, over-the-top, and humorous tone reminiscent of the original video games, rather than taking itself too seriously.
