The first season of MGM+’s Robin Hood series concluded on December 28, 2025, leaving viewers with a dramatic finale and several unresolved stories. While fans are eager for more adventures in Sherwood Forest, the streaming service has not yet announced if the show will return for a second season.
The show’s creators and cast are optimistic. Co-creator John Glenn has confirmed that preliminary work on a second season is already underway. Lead actor Jack Patten, who plays Rob, has said the cast would “love” to do more episodes, calling the potential for another season “awesome”.
What the Show’s Creators Say About a Potential Second Season
Despite the lack of an official renewal, the creative team is actively planning for the future. In an interview, co-creator John Glenn shared that the team is developing storylines for a potential new season.
“There’s absolute potential for a second season. We’re already working on it. We don’t have a second season to order, but we certainly are working, working on it,” Glenn stated.
He also teased that fans can expect a “major escalation” in the story, promising “definite twists and turns” alongside “high romance and big romance”. This suggests that a second season would raise the stakes for all the characters.
Jonathan English, the series’ other co-creator, explained that the season one finale was designed to scatter the group of outlaws. This sets the stage for them to have individual adventures and growth before potentially reuniting. The creators have discussed using a time jump between seasons to show how the characters have changed during their time apart.
How Season One Ended and What Could Happen Next
The season one finale placed the main characters in new and challenging situations, creating clear paths for the story to continue.
The outlaw band, including Rob, Little John, and Friar Tuck, has temporarily disbanded to lie low and avoid capture by the authorities. The creators noted this was a deliberate choice to show the characters “moving back into ordinary lives to hide in plain sight,” which is a fresh take on the classic legend. A second season would likely follow these characters as they navigate life on their own before finding their way back to each other.
Marian’s story took a dark turn. She played an active role in the death of her father, the Earl of Huntingdon, creating immense personal conflict for her character moving forward. Her relationship with Rob remains strong but is under great strain due to the dangers surrounding them.
Other characters also face new journeys. Priscilla of Nottingham, played by Lydia Peckham, ended the season pregnant and planning to retreat to a convent. The creators have indicated she has a “fantastic storyline” planned for a second season. Additionally, the character Ralph, who developed feelings for Rob, will continue her own journey of self-discovery.
The Cast Is Ready to Return to Sherwood Forest
The main actors have expressed strong enthusiasm for continuing the story. Jack Patten has publicly shared his hope for a renewal, praising the rich characters created by the show’s writers. His co-star, Lauren McQueen, who plays Marian, said she would “definitely” return if the show is renewed.
“I think the season ends quite interestingly for every single character. I think it could develop,” McQueen said, also highlighting the close, family-like atmosphere among the cast.
The series also features notable stars like Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, who would be expected to return.

When Could Robin Hood Season 2 Be Released?
Since an official green light has not been given, a potential release date is speculative. Production for a television series of this scale takes significant time. If MGM+ renews the show soon, some industry observers suggest new episodes could potentially arrive in late 2026 or 2027. This timeline accounts for the writing, pre-production, filming, and post-production processes.

Factors Influencing the Renewal Decision
MGM+ will base its renewal decision on several key factors. While the service does not publicly share specific viewership numbers, data from third-party trackers indicates the show performed well. It reportedly topped the MGM+ streaming charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom after its release. Strong viewer retention and completion rates for the first season are typically important metrics for streamers.
The show has also received a generally positive critical reception. It holds a 73% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even higher audience score of 80%. This positive word-of-mouth can help attract new viewers over time.
Finally, MGM+ has a history of supporting some of its original series for multiple seasons, such as From, Billy the Kid, and Godfather of Harlem. The performance of Robin Hood will be evaluated against the platform’s other content and its overall strategy.
All ten episodes of Robin Hood Season 1 are available to stream exclusively on MGM+. The service is available as a standalone app or as a channel subscription through Amazon Prime Video.
