The upcoming college hockey romance series Off Campus has not even premiered its first episode yet, but Prime Video is already locking in plans for more. In a rare show of confidence, the streaming giant announced on February 11, 2026, that the adaptation of Elle Kennedyโ€™s bestselling book series will return for a second season. This renewal comes roughly three months before audiences will even get a chance to watch Season 1, which is scheduled to launch in May 2026 on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.

Based on Kennedyโ€™s popular Off Campus book seriesโ€”which began with the 2015 novel The Dealโ€”the television adaptation follows the players of Briar Universityโ€™s elite ice hockey team and the women connected to their lives. The series explores love, friendship, heartbreak, and the messy transition into adulthood. Season 1 centers on the โ€œopposites attractโ€ romance between Hannah Wells, a quiet songwriter played by Ella Bright, and Garrett Graham, the universityโ€™s star hockey athlete portrayed by Belmont Cameli.

Prime Videoโ€™s Rare Vote of Confidence in Off Campus

Streaming services typically wait weeks after a season premiere to analyze viewership data before committing to additional episodes. Off Campus is breaking that pattern entirely. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the Season 2 renewal alongside the May premiere window, signaling that the company sees long-term potential in the franchise.

Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, explained why the streamer moved so quickly. He pointed to the built-in audience for Kennedyโ€™s books, which have sold over 10 million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 25 languages.

โ€œOff Campus captures the kind of emotionally charged, character-driven storytelling that truly resonates with our global Prime Video audience,โ€ Friedlander said in a statement. โ€œWith its passionate fan base, rich source material, and an incredible creative team bringing Briar U to life, we knew that this series had the depth and momentum to continue beyond its first season.โ€

Friedlander also praised the chemistry of the cast and the adaptation work by creator Louisa Levy. โ€œWe have great confidence in the way Louisa has mastered this adaptation, and weโ€™re excited to give fans even more of the romance, friendship, and heart that define the series,โ€ he added.

What Off Campus Season 1 Will Cover

The first season adapts The Deal, the inaugural novel in Kennedyโ€™s five-book series. The story follows Hannah Wells, a music major carrying emotional baggage from her past, and Garrett Graham, a cocky hockey player who needs to improve his grades to stay on the team. Hannah agrees to tutor Garrett, and what starts as a transactional arrangement slowly evolves into something deeper.

The show is described as a โ€œcollege soapโ€ that balances steamy romance with genuine emotional stakes. Unlike typical teen dramas, Off Campus focuses on characters who are legal adults navigating the freedoms and pressures of university life.

The ensemble cast includes Mika Abdalla as Allie Hayes, Antonio Cipriano as Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks as Tucker, Josh Heuston as Justin, Stephen Kalyn as Dean, and Khobe Clarke as Beau. Steve Howey, known for his role in Shameless, portrays Garrettโ€™s father, Phil Graham.

The Creative Team Behind the Series

Louisa Levy adapted the books for television and serves as co-showrunner alongside Gina Fattore. Levy and Fattore also executive produce the series. Temple Hill Productions, the company behind The Twilight Saga and The Fault in Our Stars, is producing the show, with Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and James Seidman attached as executive producers. Leanna Billings of Billings Productions and Neal Flaherty also executive produce.

The involvement of Temple Hill is significant. The production company has a track record of successfully adapting young adult literature for the screen, and their experience handling passionate fan bases likely contributed to Prime Videoโ€™s confidence in the project.

Why Prime Video Bet Big on Hockey Romance

Off Campus is entering a streaming landscape where hockey-themed romances are proving to be extremely popular. HBO Max recently found major success with Heated Rivalry, an adaptation of Rachel Reidโ€™s Game Changers book series. That show, which debuted in November 2025 on Crave in Canada, tells the story of rival professional hockey players who fall in love. It became HBO Maxโ€™s top acquired scripted series.

Off Campus takes a different approach by setting the story at the college level rather than the pros, but both series tap into the same audience demand. Romance readers have long been underserved by television adaptations, and streaming services are now racing to adapt popular contemporary romance novels. With Off Campus, Prime Video secures a franchise based on source material that already has a massive, dedicated following.

Streaming Details for Global Audiences

Off Campus Season 1 will premiere in May 2026 on Prime Video. An exact release date has not yet been announced, but the series will be available to stream in over 240 countries and territories worldwide, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India.

Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime membership. For viewers who are not Prime members, the service offers standalone subscriptions. Students and young adults ages 18 to 24 can access Prime for Young Adults, which includes a six-month trial followed by a discounted rate of $7.49 per month or $69 per year.

The Future Beyond Season 2

With a second season already confirmed, speculation is growing about how much of Kennedyโ€™s book universe Prime Video intends to adapt. The original Off Campus series consists of five books: The Deal, The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy. Each book focuses on a different couple within the Briar University hockey teamโ€™s friend group.

Season 1 covers The Deal, which centers on Garrett and Hannah. Season 2 will likely move on to The Mistake, which tells the story of hockey player Logan and his unexpected connection with a girl from his past. The other books follow Dean, Tucker, and eventually catch up with the original couples years later.

Beyond the core five books, Kennedy has also written the Briar U spin-off series and the more recent Campus Diaries books. If Off Campus performs well, Prime Video has enough source material for multiple seasons and potential spin-offs. The early Season 2 renewal suggests the streamer is already thinking in those terms.

Cast and Crew Commitments Moving Forward

The Season 2 renewal locks in the core cast and creative team for an extended run. Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli are set to continue as leads, while supporting cast members are also expected to return as their charactersโ€™ storylines take center stage in future seasons.

Louisa Levy and Gina Fattore will continue as co-showrunners for Season 2. The early pickup allows the writersโ€™ room to begin breaking stories for the next installment well before Season 1 even airs, potentially shortening the gap between seasons.

Elle Kennedy, the author of the original books, has not been directly involved in the day-to-day production but has expressed support for the adaptation. Her continued presence as the creator of the Off Campus universe provides built-in credibility with the book fan base.

The early renewal of Off Campus sends a clear message: Prime Video is not waiting around to see if this show will work. The streamer is betting that it already does.
