For over two decades, Adam Sandler and his wife Jackie have been a constant presence in Hollywood. At the recent premiere of his new movie “Jay Kelly,” the 59-year-old actor opened up about what keeps their bond so strong after more than 22 years of marriage. He shared a simple yet powerful formula for their lasting partnership: enjoying each other’s company and constant communication.
The Secret to Their Long-Lasting Marriage
During a candid interview, Adam Sandler gave a glimpse into his life with Jackie. He explained that the foundation of their relationship is built on friendship and mutual support.
“We’re very close,” Sandler said of his bond with his wife. “We like to talk, like to laugh, like to have fun, and like to think about things and take care of our kids.”
He also expressed profound gratitude for the life they have built together, stating, “I’m just more thankful than I’ve ever been. Happy I got to do this life, happy all the people who’ve been with me during all this stuff, and helped me out, and [it’s] just been a phenomenal time.” He described their life as a team effort, noting that “My wife and I talk about stuff, and what to do, and what to do next, and it’s just been a very cool life.”
A Relationship That Began on Set
Adam and Jackie, who is also an actress and producer, first met on the set of the 1999 comedy “Big Daddy.” Jackie had a small role as a sports bar waitress in the film. According to reports from both of them, it was “love at first sight.”
The couple began dating and tied the knot four years later in June 2003. Their wedding was an outdoor Jewish ceremony held at Dick Clark’s oceanfront estate in Malibu. They have since welcomed two daughters: Sadie, born in 2006, and Sunny, born in 2008.
In 2020, Adam marked the anniversary of the day they met with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, posting a throwback photo of the couple. He wrote, “22 years ago today we locked eyes and fell deep. Look forward to the next 22, young lady. Love you my forever girl.”
A Family That Acts Together
The Sandler family frequently works together, with Jackie and both daughters often appearing in Adam’s films. Their most recent project is the Netflix sequel “Happy Gilmore 2.”
In the film, their daughter Sunny plays a key role as Vennita, the daughter of Adam’s character, Happy Gilmore. Their other daughter, Sadie, appears as Charlotte, a member of Happy’s Alcoholics Anonymous group. Jackie also makes a cameo appearance as Vennita’s ballet teacher.
Sandler has spoken about the pride he feels working with his children. “It is just all happening fast. Kids are growing up − they really are into acting and movies, and it’s always been our thing to work with our friends and family,” he said. “It’s cool to see them getting better. They work hard and they go to school for it, and they love it. So, yeah, I’m just proud. Couldn’t love them more.”
The film’s director, Kyle Newacheck, also praised the family’s dynamic, saying, “It is so cool to see them all be creative and to work and gel to tell the story. They’re all very good at acting, they’re very good at portraying these characters — and it’s really cool because his daughters are still young.”

Jackie has been a steadfast supporter of Adam’s career choices, even encouraging him to take on more challenging roles. He publicly credited her for giving him the confidence to star in the intense 2019 film “Uncut Gems.”
“My badass wife, she gave me the balls to take the part,” Adam said during an event. “I was scared and she said, ‘Go fucking do that’ and ‘You can do that shit’ and we rehearsed together all the time.”
Earlier this year, the couple was spotted sharing a kiss on the red carpet at the SNL 50th-anniversary concert at Radio City Music Hall, showing that their romance is still very much alive.
