Ahn Hyo Seop, the popular K-drama actor, is now winning hearts as the voice of Jinu in Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters. The movie blends K-pop, fantasy, and action as a girl group battles demons disguised as a rival boy band.
Born on April 17, 1995, in Seoul, Ahn moved to Canada at six and later returned to South Korea to pursue entertainment. He trained at JYP Entertainment alongside future GOT7 members but shifted to acting. His breakout role came in Still 17 (2018), followed by hits like Dr. Romantic 2, Business Proposal, and A Time Called You.
In KPop Demon Hunters, Ahn voices Jinu, the leader of the demon boy band Saja Boys. His character was once human but sold his soul for fame. Ahn shared his thoughts on the role:
“Jinu made a dangerous deal to protect his family, but it trapped him in darkness. Despite being a demon, he still feels warmth and curiosity about humanity.”
The film marks his English voice-acting debut. His fluency in English, from living in Canada, helped him land the role. Singing for Jinu is Andrew Choi, a former K-pop Star contestant.
Fans praise Ahn’s performance. One viewer tweeted:
“Ahn Hyo Seop’s voice fits Jinu perfectly! His emotional delivery adds depth to the character.”
Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the movie features Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo as the demon-hunting girl group Huntrix. The story mixes Korean mythology with modern K-pop culture.
Ahn’s next project is Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, a live-action film. His versatility in acting and now voice work keeps fans excited for his future roles.
