The new anime series Akane-Banashi has quickly grabbed attention since its launch on April 4, 2026. The show tells the story of a young girl who wants to master the traditional Japanese art of rakugo (comic storytelling). After two strong episodes, viewers are now waiting for the next part. Episode 3 is set to arrive on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

When Does Episode 3 Release Globally?

The new episode drops at the same time worldwide. For viewers in the United States, it comes out at 9:00 AM Pacific Time (PT). On the East Coast, that is 12:00 PM Eastern Time (ET). Fans in the United Kingdom can watch at 4:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

For viewers in India, the episode is available at 9:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). Australian fans on the east coast will see it the next day, on April 19 at 2:00 AM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). The show airs on TV Asahi in Japan at 11:30 PM JST.

Where to Watch Akane-Banashi Episode 3

The show is available on different platforms depending on where you live. Netflix streams the series weekly in Asian countries, including India. However, viewers in North America, Latin America, and Europe will have to wait until May 2026 to see it on Netflix.

For fans in North and South America, the official Akane-banashi Global YouTube channel offers new episodes for free every week. Other regional platforms include ADN in France, Anime Box in Spain, and Anime Generation in Italy. The series runs for 24 episodes in total across two parts.

What Happened So Far

The story starts with a heavy moment. Akane’s father, Shinta Arakawa, gets expelled from his rakugo school by Master Issho Arakawa. Episode 2 then moves forward six years. We see Akane has grown up and trained hard in secret. She steps on stage and declares she will beat Kaisei Arakawa, one of the top performers in the school.

What to Expect in Episode 3

Episode 3 moves the story away from the setup and into the real action. Akane will likely start her life as a formal student under Master Shiguma Arakawa. She has shown she has the passion, but now she needs to learn the rules and discipline of a professional rakugo performer.

The rakugo world has a strict ranking system. Akane will probably enter the zenza stage, which is the lowest level for a professional. This episode may also show more of the other students in the Shiguma school. We already met Guriko and Kaisei in Episode 2. The next episode will likely build out these relationships and show how Akane fits into this competitive family.

The Cast and Crew

The voice cast brings the characters to life. Anna Nagase voices Akane Sakurazaka. Takuya Eguchi plays Karashi Nerimaya, and Rie Takahashi plays Hikaru Koragi. Jun Fukuyama voices Shinta Arakawa.

The opening song “Hitotarashi” comes from Keisuke Kuwata. Ayumu Watanabe directs the series, with ZEXCS handling the animation production. The manga, written by Yuki Suenaga and drawn by Takamasa Moue, started in February 2022.

Why Fans Are Watching This Show

The anime has earned a solid 8.4/10 rating on IMDb. The story offers something different from typical action or adventure anime. It focuses on performance, family honor, and personal growth. The art style and voice acting have received positive feedback from viewers who enjoy character-driven dramas.
