What Happens in Season 6: Story and New Faces
Season 6 moves the story forward to May 1945. With the war in Europe ending, the characters face a new world. James and Helen Herriot are now parents to two children: their son, Jimmy, and a new baby daughter named Rosie. They have moved to Heston Grange.
Meanwhile, Skeldale House is in disorder. Siegfried Farnon is struggling to manage the practice alone. Tristan Farnon returns from his military service and is surprised by the state of things. Mrs. Hall has been away in Sunderland, staying with her son Edward and his family after learning he survived the war. A big part of the season’s story is about her working to bring everyone back together and restore peace at Skeldale.
“Itโs good to see you again,” Siegfried says to Mrs. Hall in a trailer, showing their emotional reunion.
New characters arrive in Darrowby. Actors Gaia Wise and Jonathan Hyde join the cast as Charlotte Beauvoir and her father, General Beauvoir, a posh family new to the area with a horse that needs care. Other new cast members include Lucy-Jo Hudson, Philip Martin Brown, and Chris Gascoyne.
The season also introduces new animals. Look for a sheepdog named Fly, a whippet, a parrot, and a large Shire horse.
