Nicolas Cage is officially suited up. Prime Video has released the first look at Spider-Noir, its live-action series spinning out of the Spider-Verse. The images give fans their first glimpse of Cage as Ben Reilly, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who must confront his past as a forgotten superhero. The series is set to premiere worldwide in Spring 2026.
This marks a major expansion for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe on television. The project brings Cage back to a character he first voiced in the 2018 animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this time in his first leading television role. The series will debut in the U.S. on the MGM+ linear channel, followed by a global release the next day on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories.
A unique feature confirmed for the show is its visual presentation. Viewers will have the choice to watch Spider-Noir in โAuthentic Black & Whiteโ to get the classic film noir feel, or in โTrue-Hue Full Colorโ. The released promotional images showcase both versions, setting the tone for a stylized, period piece.
Meet The Characters Of 1930s New York
The newly released photos introduce the core cast of characters navigating the shadowy world of Spider-Noir. The series reimagines familiar names from Spider-Man lore within its Depression-era setting.
Nicolas Cage leads the cast as Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider. The official description paints him as a former hero who stepped away after a personal tragedy. He now works as a struggling private eye, only pulled back into his superhero life by an extraordinary case. Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller described this version of the character as โolder and jadedโ and noted he โalready had his Chinatown disillusionment momentโ long ago.
He is joined by Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl) as Robbie Robertson, a dedicated journalist fighting to make his name in 1930s New York. The character is portrayed as a best friend to Ben, willing to take risks for both his career and their friendship. Li Jun Li (Babylon) plays Cat Hardy, the star singer at a premier New York nightclub. Described as a classic femme fatale, she appears self-interested but hides deeper complexities. Karen Rodriguez portrays Janet, the smart and loyal secretary in Ben Reillyโs small detective agency. She is unafraid to speak her mind and is determined to help her boss succeed.
A Star-Studded Cast Of Heroes And Villains
Beyond the core four, Spider-Noir boasts an impressive ensemble cast filled with award-winning actors. They will bring to life a mix of original characters and new twists on classic Spider-Man adversaries.
Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) plays the villain Silvermane, a powerful New York mob boss who has survived multiple assassination attempts. The case involving Silvermane is what drags Ben Reilly back into a larger fight, with connections that reach into Benโs own past. Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) appears as Flint Marko, a character familiar to fans as the future Sandman. In this series, he is described as working as โhired muscleโ.
The cast also includes Abraham Popoola as a World War I veteran searching for his opportunity. The lineup of recurring guest stars features Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, and Amy Aquino, among others.
Behind The Scenes With The Spider-Verse Creators
Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. The series benefits from a deep connection to the creative team behind the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The series was developed by Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvelโs The Punisher), who also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They developed the project with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, the Academy Award-winning producers behind Into the Spider-Verse. Lord and Miller executive produce through their Lord Miller Productions banner.
Acclaimed director Harry Bradbeer, known for his Emmy-winning work on Fleabag, directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Nicolas Cage also serves as an executive producer on the series.

A Different Kind Of Spider-Man Story
Spider-Noir distinguishes itself by not following the traditional Peter Parker story. Instead, the hero is Ben Reilly, a name taken from Marvel Comics where he is known as the Scarlet Spider, a clone of Peter Parker. The creative team chose this name to better fit the tone of a worn-down, older hero. Oren Uziel explained that โPeter Parker feels very synonymous with a high school kid,โ while they wanted a character who embodied a more experienced, world-weary perspective.
The showโs tone blends classic detective grit with the unique energy Nicolas Cage brings. Cage himself teased his approach to the character, describing him as โ70 percent Humphrey Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunnyโ. In conversations with the producers, Cage even suggested the character is like โa spider trying to cosplay as a humanโ.
The story finds Ben Reilly investigating assassination attempts on the mob boss Silvermane, a case that becomes deeply personal and forces him to unravel mysteries tied to his own origin. The eight-episode season promises to be a hard-boiled detective tale set within a superhero framework.
Spider-Noir will premiere on MGM+ and Prime Video in Spring 2026. While a specific release date has not been announced, the global release plan confirms it will be available to stream in over 240 countries and territories.
