Andrew Walker and Ashley Williams, two familiar faces in Hallmark movies, have revealed candid details about filming romantic scenes in their latest film, Jingle Bell Run, which premiered on November 16, 2024. The pair, known for their warm chemistry onscreen, offered a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into filming their on-screen kisses, balancing professionalism with personal relationships.
Speaking with People magazine, Walker humorously described the process as a unique challenge.
“This is the circus. It’s a freak show.”
Walker explained that although he is accustomed to the routine, filming such scenes can feel unusual, especially with someone he knows personally. He emphasized that he shares a close friendship with Williams’ husband, which added an extra layer of complexity.
The duo, neighbors in real life, have collaborated before outside of movies. They, along with their spouses, participated in events like the Dance Party to End Alzheimer’s. Their camaraderie off-screen added a unique dynamic to their professional pairing.
Neighbors Turned Co-Stars
Williams recounted her excitement upon hearing about the opportunity to work with Walker. The actress shared that when she received the pitch for Jingle Bell Run, described as “The Amazing Race at Christmas,” and learned about her co-star, she was immediately on board.
The real-life proximity of the two stars added another layer of connection. Williams noted that their families live just minutes apart and share a unique bond.
“We live two minutes away from one another. Both of us have two sons who are the same age and who adore one another. I can’t believe we hadn’t worked together before. It’s a dream come true.”
Williams and her husband, Neal Dodson, have two children—Gus, 10, and Odie, 7—while Walker and his wife, Cassandra Troy, are parents to West, 10, and Wolf, 4. Their children’s close friendship underscores the deep connection between the two families.
Family Reactions to Romantic Scenes
Walker shared a humorous anecdote about his son’s reaction to his latest project. While driving his 10-year-old, Walker learned that a neighborhood friend, Jonah, had spilled the news about the film’s romantic scenes.
“He told me, ‘You and Gus’s mom are going to be making out in your next movie.’ It was hilarious hearing it from him.”
Williams added her own playful commentary, noting the comedic twist in the way the children perceived the situation.
“The 9-year-old gossip train! We made it on there. The fact that they said ‘making out’ makes me think they don’t understand at all.”
Walker also revealed that his children often react with amusement or mild disapproval when watching his movies. He mentioned that during kissing scenes, his sons either stare at him or jokingly express their discontent.
“My 4-year-old would say, ‘Daddy, you can’t do that!’ or he might stay silent and then try to physically hurt me a little afterward.”
