Armie Hammer, known for his role in “Call Me by Your Name,” recently shared a personal story on his podcast, “Armie HammerTime.” He talked about an attempt to connect with a man, which he described as “hilarious.” Hammer explained that his motivation came from a feeling that “women are the worst.”
‘Women Are the Worst’
During the podcast episode, Hammer made a statement about his perception of dating women. He then contrasted this with what he believes is the easier experience of gay men. To illustrate his point, he described a hypothetical scenario involving the dating app Grindr and a quick sexual encounter in a restaurant bathroom.
“Gay dudes seem to have it so easy. Like, so easyโฆ I’m at a restaurant, my phone blows up, and it’s, like, Grindr, and someone else is like, ‘I’m at the same restaurant. Do you want a b——- in the bathroom?’ And you’re like, ‘Hey, guys. I’ll be back in five minutes.’ And then you get up and you go to the bathroom, you get a b——, and you come back, and you’re like, ‘What was that?’”
This scenario, according to Hammer, prompted him to explore connecting with men himself, thinking it might be a better experience for him.
Encounter with French Man
Following his thoughts on the perceived ease of gay dating, Hammer recounted an actual attempt to connect with a man. He described meeting a “handsome French man” and feeling optimistic initially. “I was like, Okay, this could work. This could work. Let’s try this,” he said.
Physical Discomfort
However, Hammer‘s experience quickly turned negative during a make-out session. He mentioned being bothered by the man’s beard, finding it “rough,” and expressing that he understands why women prefer men to shave.
“I just remember being like, ‘God, beards. I get why women like it when you shave. This thing is f—ing rough.”
He also commented on the man’s physique, stating he felt overwhelmed by the man’s size and broad shoulders. “I put my arms around him, and I was like, oh my godโฆ And these shoulders are so wide. He’s so big. Like, he’s almost my height. Like, this is so strange.”
Lack of Attraction
Ultimately, Hammer admitted to feeling no physical attraction to the man. He described going “through the motions” during the encounter. When the man attempted to touch him intimately, Hammer stopped him, saying he felt “absolutely nothing. Not even a twitch.” This lack of physical connection led him to end the encounter.
Past Controversies
Armie Hammer‘s career in Hollywood faced significant disruption after accusations of sexual assault surfaced in 2021. While he denied any wrongdoing, and no charges were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney in May 2023, the fallout was substantial. Accusations included disturbing messages allegedly sent by Hammer, referencing cannibalism and BDSM. Consequently, he was dropped by his agency and lost roles in projects like “Shotgun Wedding” and “The Offer.”
Future Projects
Despite the past controversies, Armie Hammer is expected to return to acting. He is slated to appear in “Frontier Crucible,” an upcoming Western film alongside William H. Macy.
