Former Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira is just as curious as fans about the upcoming third season. Even though she left the show after season 2, she still keeps in touch with her old castmates. But she recently admitted that even the people filming the new episodes seem to be in the dark about some big details.
During a new interview, Ferreira shared a funny moment where she asked a current cast member if internet personality Trisha Paytas is really joining the show. The answer she got was not what she expected.
Barbie Ferreira Says Even Cast Members Don’t Know Season 3 Secrets
Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez on the HBO drama, left the series in 2022. While promoting her recent work, she appeared on the SiriusXM show The Morning Mashup .
When the host asked if she still follows Euphoria, Ferreira explained that she checks in with her former coworkers. But she quickly realized that knowing someone on set does not mean getting the inside scoop.
“Yeah, totally. People always ask me questions about season 3. I’m like, ‘I don’t know.’ I don’t even think the girls know,” Ferreira said .
She then told a story about asking one of her friends from the show about a specific rumor. There has been a lot of online chatter about Trisha Paytas joining the cast for season 3. Paytas, a major social media star and podcast host, was reported to be part of the new ensemble .
Ferreira decided to ask a cast member directly.
“I was like, ‘Is Trisha Paytas in Euphoria?’ And they’re like, ‘I don’t know.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re in it. How did you not know?’” Ferreira recalled .
She confirmed that she has not seen any scripts or footage until very recently. Like the rest of the world, she only saw the trailers released this week.
“So, I haven’t seen anything until the trailers this week. They look amazing. I’m excited to see what the girls are gonna do,” she added .
Why Barbie Ferreira Left the Hit HBO Show
Ferreira announced her exit from Euphoria in August 2022. She posted on her Instagram Story at the time, saying a “teary-eyed goodbye” to her character Kat . She thanked fans for letting her bring the role to life.
For a long time, rumors circulated that she left because of fights with creator Sam Levinson or that she walked off set. Ferreira addressed these rumors directly in previous interviews. She explained that the decision to leave was mutual and that she was ready to move on.
“I kind of got sucked into this drama that I never asked to be in and that I’ve never talked about. I’m of the mindset that if it doesn’t exist, I’m not going to address it because then I’m adding fuel to it,” she said on the Armchair Expert podcast .
She also mentioned that her character’s story felt complete. She wanted to avoid Kat becoming just a sidekick or falling into stereotypes.
New Faces and Returning Stars for Season 3
While Barbie Ferreira will not be back, Euphoria Season 3 has a long list of returning stars and exciting new additions.
Zendaya returns as Rue, alongside Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Hunter Schafer (Jules), Alexa Demie (Maddy), and Maude Apatow (Lexi) .
The new season also brings in major Hollywood names. Sharon Stone joined the cast, along with Natasha Lyonne, singer Rosalía, and director Eli Roth .
As for Trisha Paytas, multiple entertainment outlets confirmed her casting late last year. She is officially part of the season 3 lineup, though details about her role remain a secret . Paytas hinted that her character is “chaotic,” which fits the show’s style perfectly.
