In a historic result for the long-running reality series, 60-year-old composer Richard Storry was crowned the winner of Big Brother UK 2025. The finale, broadcast live on November 14, saw the South London native become the oldest champion in the show’s history, securing the ยฃ100,000 prize after a dramatic season.
Storry triumphed over fellow finalists Elsa Rae and Jenny Baird in a close public vote. His victory marks a new chapter for the ITV reboot, celebrating a contestant known for his genuine nature and composed demeanor amidst a house often filled with tension.
The Final Showdown and Results
The live finale, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, featured the six remaining contestants: Cameron, Elsa, Emily, Jenny, Richard, and Tate. The evening began with the elimination of Tate, followed by Emily and Cameron. Jenny finished in third place, leaving Richard and Elsa as the final two contestants.
When the winner was announced, a stunned Richard exited the house to roaring cheers from the crowd. Asked by host AJ Odudu how he felt, the new champion could only sum up his feelings with two words:
โAbsolutely crazy. Absolutely crazy!โ
As he left the house for the final time, Richard addressed the Big Brother house, saying, โBig Brother team, it has been an absolute pleasure and delight. Good night, and thank you!โ
The final rankings for Big Brother UK 2025 were:
- 1st Place: Richard
- 2nd Place: Elsa
- 3rd Place: Jenny
- 4th Place: Cameron
- 5th Place: Emily
- 6th Place: Tate
A Record-Breaking Victory
Richard’s win is a record-setting moment for Big Brother in the UK. At 60 years old, he now holds the title of the oldest winner the show has ever had. The previous record was held by Jason Burrill, who won in 2016 at the age of 45.
This season was the third since the show’s revival on ITV. Richard now joins the winners’ hall of fame alongside Ali Bromley, who won in 2024, and Jordan Sangha, the first winner of the reboot in 2023.
A Season of Drama and Twists
The 2025 season was noted for its high drama, unexpected twists, and memorable house dynamics. The season began with 12 contestants, who were joined by four more entrants on the second day.
One of the most significant events was the removal of housemate George Gilbert for what was described as “repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour.” The season also featured a fake elimination twist that brought back two previously evicted housemates.
Richard’s own journey in the house was partly defined by his strained relationship with a fellow contestant named Caroline. The two were often at odds, with Caroline frequently labeling him as “boring.” Their dynamic was a central storyline, making Richard’s victory a satisfying outcome for many viewers who supported him throughout the conflict.
The Final Night in the House
Before the winner was announced, the finalists shared a traditional last supper in the Big Brother house. Cameron shared his gratitude with the group, saying, โSeven weeks in this mad house. It’s been a hell of a ride in here. I can’t say in a nutshell how much I’ve appreciated coming into this house and spending it with you guys.โ
Richard also reflected on the experience, telling his fellow housemates, โThis experience has been without doubt the most bonkers, crazy, madcap, incredible, extraordinary thing I have ever done. It’s been great to meet all of you, it’s been a magnificent, magnificent ride and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.โ
A Romance Steals the Spotlight
While Richard took home the grand prize, a different kind of story captured the audience’s attention. Runner-up Elsa found romance inside the house with fellow contestant Marcus John, who was eliminated just before the finale.
Marcus had openly expressed his strong feelings for Elsa during the season, at one point referring to her as his “best friend” and “future wife.” He explained, โI want to ask Elsa to be my girlfriend when I take her out on a date outside of here. And โfuture wifeโ? That goes without saying.โ
Since leaving the house, Marcus has confirmed their plans, revealing ideas for โloads of different datesโ they planned together, including trips to the zoo and the cinema. He described Elsa as โthe purest soul,โ adding that she is โas beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.โ
Fan Reactions to the Winner
The public response to Richard’s victory has been overwhelmingly positive. On social media, one fan celebrated, “Our king Richard did it,” while another stated, “The best result we could have gotten. Our oldest public winner in Big Brother UK history.”
Many viewers also noted the poetic justice of his win. One fan commented, โHaha I just know Caroline is burning on the inside and probably wishes she would have left Richard alone now.โ
With applications for the 2026 series now open, the future of Big Brother on ITV looks promising. The 2025 season concluded on a high note, delivering a historic and popular winner while proving that the social experiment remains as compelling as ever.
