YG Entertainment has announced the formation of a dedicated project team to manage BLACKPINK’s upcoming group activities, including a comeback slated for May 2025 and a subsequent world tour. This news comes as the members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—are currently focused on their solo endeavors.
BLACKPINK’s Return and YG’s Focus on Music
YG Entertainment has shifted its focus back to music, ending management contracts with its actors. This strategic move aligns with the company’s plans for BLACKPINK’s future. The formation of a dedicated project team signals serious preparation for the group’s return. This will be their first group activity since the BORN PINK era in 2022. Following the May comeback, the group will embark on a world tour, with stops expected in Asia, North America, and Europe. BLACKPINK last performed as a group at Coachella 2023, fueling anticipation among BLINKs (BLACKPINK’s fan base).
Solo Activities and Group Plans
While preparing for their group comeback, the BLACKPINK members are also pursuing individual projects. Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa are preparing to release solo albums this year. Rosé, who released her debut album, rosie, in December of last year, is currently making appearances on various shows and in interviews. Despite their busy solo schedules, the members are committed to their group activities.
YG Entertainment’s Restructuring and Other Group Activities
YG Entertainment is streamlining its operations, focusing on its core music business. This includes integrating YGX under its Global Training Center and expanding its in-house production team from 10 to 50 members. This restructuring is partly due to BLACKPINK’s upcoming activities.
Besides BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment is also managing the schedules of other groups:
- BABYMONSTER, who debuted last April, has released a mini-album, a full-length album in November, and completed a global fan meeting and tour, selling nearly 1.6 million albums in their debut year. They are set to begin another world tour with a Seoul concert in January.
- TREASURE has a busy schedule with their TREASURE 2025 FIRST US TOUR [SPECIAL MOMENT] in April, performing in New York, Washington DC, Oakland, and Los Angeles. They will also have a worldwide tour in October.
- YG Entertainment will also support 2NE1, who are celebrating their 15th anniversary with a successful tour.
