BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has reportedly been offered the lead role in the upcoming drama ‘Monthly Boyfriend,’ marking her potential return to television as a lead actress.

On August 29, various sources, including Osen, reported that BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is in discussions to star in the new drama ‘Monthly Boyfriend.’ The reports were later confirmed by Jisoo’s agency, BLISSOO, which stated that the actress has received an offer for the project and is currently in talks. While specific details about the drama remain undisclosed, this could become Jisoo’s fourth acting role if she accepts.

Jisoo, who is globally recognized as a member of the K-pop group BLACKPINK, first ventured into acting with a cameo in the 2015 hit drama ‘The Producers.’ In this drama, she played a rookie named Kim Ji Soo, alongside stars like IU, Kim Soo Hyun, and Gong Hyo Jin. Her debut in a leading role came in 2021 with the drama ‘Snowdrop,’ where she portrayed Eun Young Ro, a college student caught in a complex political situation. This marked her official entry into the acting world, earning her praise for her performance.

Jisoo is also set to lead the upcoming fantasy thriller ‘Newtopia,’ which has generated significant interest due to its unique plot and star-studded cast. In ‘Newtopia,’ Jisoo will play Young Ju, a rookie facing personal turmoil when her boyfriend enlists in the military. As she embarks on a journey to reconnect with him, she discovers a world plagued by a zombie outbreak. The drama is an adaptation of the novel ‘Influenza’ by Han Sang Woon and will also star Park Jung Min and Kim Joon Han.

Another highly anticipated project featuring Jisoo is the film ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,’ slated for release in 2025. This film boasts an impressive cast, including Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Soo Bin, Nana, and Shin Seung Ho. Based on the popular web novel ‘Omniscient Reader’ by Sing N Song, the film’s release is eagerly awaited by fans.

Jisoo’s transition from music to acting has been met with widespread acclaim, and her potential involvement in ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ is sure to add another chapter to her growing acting portfolio.
