BLACKPINK’s Jisoo shared her admiration for actor Park Jung Min, revealing his influence on her decision to star in the upcoming zombie rom-com Newtopia. The two previously worked together on Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman and are now leading the cast of this highly anticipated K-drama.
From Cameos to Leading Roles
Jisoo plays Kang Young Joo, a rookie office worker, while Park Jung Min portrays Lee Jae Yoon, a soldier. In Newtopia, set amidst a zombie outbreak in Seoul, the two characters, former lovers who parted ways after an argument, try to find their way back to each other. The drama promises a blend of thrill, romance, and comedy.
Jisoo’s Admiration for Park Jung Min
In an recent interview with a media outlet, Jisoo expressed her respect for Park Jung Min, stating that he was a key factor in her joining the Newtopia project. She also shared how her desire to work with him influenced her cameo appearance in Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman nearly two years ago.
“We first saw each other when we did cameos for another project. Because I was on tour, I would have to carve out a day for the cameo appearance, so at first, I was a little hesitant about the request. But, I heard Park Jung Min would be making a cameo appearance, which helped me accept the request because I wanted to collaborate with him.”
Jisoo explained that her decision to join Newtopia was similarly influenced by Park Jung Min’s presence.
“Similarly, when I was offered the role for this series, I took it on because I heard he was going to be part of it. I really wanted to watch him perform up close. I think Jung Min was the reason why I decided to take on the project. (Laughs)”
