BLACKPINK member Jisoo has won the Outstanding Asian Star award at the 20th Seoul International Drama Awards 2025. She received the honor for her lead role in the zombie apocalypse drama Newtopia, marking her first major acting award since her debut.
The award ceremony will take place on October 2, 2025, at KBS Hall in Seoul. Jisoo secured 38.28% of the votes, beating other nominees in the category. Fans worldwide celebrated her win, flooding social media with congratulatory messages.
Jisoo’s Acting Career and Newtopia Success
Jisoo played Kang Yeong Ju, the female lead in Coupang Play’s Newtopia. The series, a zombie thriller, is her second major acting project after Snowdrop (2021-2022). Despite being relatively new to acting, critics praised her strong performance in a challenging genre.

Jisoo’s Expanding Career: Music and Acting
Other than acting, Jisoo released her first solo EP, Amortage, in February 2025, featuring the hit single Earthquake. She also reunited with BLACKPINK for their Deadline World Tour, which began on July 5, 2025.
Her next project is the film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, where she will star alongside Lee Min-ho. Film is set to release in 23rd July 2025, which is today.
Event Details and Public Celebrations
The Seoul International Drama Awards will be broadcast live on SBS TV and YouTube. Public celebrations are planned at Banpo Hangang Park and Songpa Naru Park on October 3-4, 2025.
