Following her successful acting debut, global superstar Lisa from BLACKPINK is set to star in a new romantic comedy for Netflix. The film draws inspiration from the beloved 1999 classic Notting Hill and marks a major step in Lisa’s expanding Hollywood career.

Lisa will reunite with David Bernad, an executive producer from The White Lotus Season 3, where she made her first acting appearance. The film’s script will be written by Katie Silberman, known for popular and critically praised comedies like Set It Up and Booksmart. While specific plot details remain secret, the project originated from conversations between Lisa and Bernad on the set of The White Lotus, where they discovered a mutual love for the Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant film.

Project Origins And Creative Team Behind The Film

The idea for this romantic comedy was born in a very organic way. While filming the third season of The White Lotus in Thailand, Lisa and producer David Bernad often talked about movies during breaks. They found they both enjoyed the charm and story of Notting Hill, which follows the unlikely romance between a famous American actress and an ordinary London bookstore owner.

These casual discussions sparked the idea to create a modern project with a similar spirit. They later brought in screenwriter Katie Silberman to develop the concept into a full script. Silberman has a strong track record with Netflix, having written one of the platform’s most-watched original romantic comedies, Set It Up.

“It’s my first time acting, so I was really nervous on set, to be honest. I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to expect. Everything is so new,” Lisa shared about her White Lotus experience in a past interview. “But I really had fun. Everybody [was] so nice, so supportive, such a professional [environment] and they helped me a lot.”

On the production side, David Bernad will produce the film through his company, Middle Child Productions. Lisa and her creative partner Alice Kang, who worked on Lisa’s solo music video ‘Born Again’, will serve as executive producers, giving Lisa a voice in the project’s development beyond her starring role.

Lisa’s Rapid Rise In Film And Television

This Netflix film represents the latest move in Lisa’s fast-growing acting career, which began just last year. She earned positive attention for her debut role as Mook, a resort wellness employee, in the star-packed third season of HBO’s The White Lotus. The season was set in her home country of Thailand and received multiple award nominations.

Simultaneously, Lisa is already deep into work on another major Netflix project. She has a leading role in Tygo, an action-thriller spin-off set in the same universe as the Chris Hemsworth Extraction films. In Tygo, she will play Lia, a key team member and close friend to the main character, a former child-soldier on a revenge mission. She stars alongside actors Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok) and Lee Jin-wook. This dual commitment to a big action movie and a romantic comedy showcases her range as a performer.

Balancing A Blockbuster Music Career

Even as she branches into acting, Lisa continues her work as one of the world’s biggest music artists. She is a member of BLACKPINK, frequently cited as one of the best-selling girl groups ever. The group is preparing for a major comeback, with a new mini-album titled Deadline scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.

The tracklist includes five songs: Jump, Go, Me and my, Champion, and Fxxxboy. This release follows a period where the group’s members focused on solo activities before reuniting for a world tour that ran from July 2025 to January 2026.

On her own, Lisa released her debut solo album Alter Ego in 2025. The album performed strongly, reaching number seven on the US Billboard 200 chart and number one on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. She has also made landmark solo performances at Coachella and the Academy Awards.

Fan Reactions And What Comes Next For The Film

News of Lisa’s casting has generated excitement among her global fanbase, known as BLINKs. Reactions on social media and in comment sections express support and curiosity about her move into a light-hearted romantic comedy genre. Some fans have eagerly speculated on potential co-stars and hope the film might incorporate elements of K-drama storytelling.

The film is in the early stages of development. Key steps like finalizing the full cast, determining a filming schedule, and setting an official release date are still to come. Given this early phase, a release before the end of 2026 is unlikely. The project is a collaboration between Lisa’s team, Katie Silberman, and producer David Bernad, who is also preparing the fourth season of The White Lotus, set in France.

Lisa was also recently named the Amazing Thailand Ambassador as part of a tourism campaign for her home country. A documentary film about her life, tentatively titled Lisa, is currently in post-production, though no release date has been announced.
