Caught in the middle is lawyer Park Han-jun, portrayed by veteran actor Sung Dong-il. Bloody Flower began under the working title The Flower of Death, which is the direct translation of its original Korean name and the title of the source novel. The project gained early recognition when it won the Grand Prize at the 2023 Broadcast Video Content Contest organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). It was selected from a pool of 525 entries, highlighting the strength of its initial concept.
Casting announcements were made throughout 2025. The lead roles for Ryeoun and Keum Sae-rok were confirmed in June 2025. Sung Dong-il’s casting as the lawyer was announced later, in August 2025. Following the casting, principal photography for the series commenced in September 2025.
The production is a collaboration between two Korean production companies, EO Content Group and Contents G. The final confirmation of the official international title, Bloody Flower, and its precise premiere date came from Disney+ in early January 2026.
