BTS member Suga’s music video for Daechwita is being displayed at the Soundwaves of Science exhibition in London, sparking pride among fans worldwide. The exhibition, hosted by the Korean Cultural Centre UK and the National Science Museum of Korea, runs from April 3 to June 27, 2025. It explores traditional Korean music through a scientific lens, with Daechwita highlighted as a modern reinterpretation of cultural heritage.

The music video plays on a large wall in the exhibition hall, captioned Daechwita (Agust D 2020) alongside the event’s motto: Joseon’s musical instruments, sounding science. Fans have praised the recognition, calling the track a timeless masterpiece that blends tradition with innovation. Social media buzzed with reactions, celebrating Suga’s global influence.

“Even after 5 years, its brilliance and cultural impact remain undeniable. Chosen as a standout example of modern reinterpretation of traditional Korean music, ‘Daechwita’ is being recognized not just as a hit, but as a culturally significant piece that blends heritage with innovation. It’s a proud and powerful moment.”

The exhibition marks the 80th anniversary of the National Science Museum of Korea and features interactive displays, AI-composed music, and traditional instruments like the geomungo and gayageum. Daechwita’s inclusion underscores its role in bridging history and contemporary art. Fans noted how often the song appears in cultural showcases, countering claims that Korea undervalues Suga’s work.

“Every time there are exhibitions about South Korea, you always will find Daechwita. But that solo Stan of x boy from Michigan loves to tell us that Korea hates Yoongi,” a fan tweeted. Others called the song a “timeless cultural masterpiece” and praised its global appeal. The music video’s theatrical visuals and traditional Korean elements, like royal court imagery and samulnori percussion, align with the exhibition’s theme of scientific and artistic fusion.

Suga, under his solo alias Agust D, released Daechwita in 2020 as part of his second mixtape. The track samples the traditional Korean military march of the same name, blending hip-hop with historical sounds. Its lyrics critique societal power structures, adding depth to its cultural resonance. The Soundwaves of Science exhibition also highlights King Sejong’s musical innovations, such as the Hwangjong pitch pipe, drawing parallels to Suga’s modern creativity.

“A full wall just for the iconic Daechwita, that’s how they better keep treating him after everything he has done to represent his culture in his music for his worldwide audience,” a fan commented. The display coincides with Suga’s upcoming military discharge on June 21, 2025. BigHit Music confirmed he will complete his service as a social work personnel without public events, urging fans to avoid overcrowding.

This isn’t the first time Daechwita has been honored in art spaces. In March 2025, Russian artists paid tribute to Suga in the Meeting Instead of Farewell exhibition, inspired by his music. Fans see these accolades as proof of his lasting impact beyond K-pop.

“Organic king Agust D Yoongi’s impact is undeniable, so proud of him,” a supporter wrote. The Soundwaves of Science exhibition continues through June 27, offering visitors a chance to experience Korea’s musical legacy—with Daechwita as a centerpiece.
