Two of South Korea’s prominent actors, Cha Seung Won and Kim Do Hoon, are currently reviewing offers to headline a new spy action drama titled “Retired Agent Management Team”. The potential collaboration has generated significant excitement, promising a fresh take on the buddy action genre.
The production is set to be a bromance thriller that brings together two very different generations of agents. The story will follow a Gen X retired agent and a Gen Z super ace as they join forces to uncover a mole who has been secretly operating within a criminal organization for over 25 years. For the older agent, this mission is a chance to reclaim his past glory, while for the younger one, it represents an opportunity to prove himself and achieve his dream of becoming a true field agent.
The Proposed Characters and Story Dynamics
According to the reports, Cha Seung Won has been offered the role of Kim Chul Soo, a former black ops agent who has since retired from the National Intelligence Service (NIS). He now runs a car wash and appears to be an ordinary family man living a quiet life. However, beneath this humble exterior lies a legendary former spy, described as having “the claws of a lion beneath a sheep’s disguise.”
On the other hand, Kim Do Hoon is considering the part of Go Yo Han, a member of the NIS’s Retired Agent Management Team. His character is gifted but overly confident and impulsive, with a perfectionist exterior that masks an anxious young man desperate for recognition and validation. His behavior often leads others to label him as a “show-off” or “attention seeker.”
The Creative Team Behind the Project
The script for “Retired Agent Management Team” will be penned by Song Han Na and Kim Min Sung, the writing duo behind the critically acclaimed series “A Bloody Lucky Day”. This connection suggests a high potential for a well-crafted and intense narrative.
A representative from Cha Seung Won’s agency, Keyeast Entertainment, confirmed the actor’s involvement, stating:
โCha Seung Won has received an offer to star in โRetired Agent Management Teamโ and is currently reviewing it.โ
Similarly, a source from Kim Do Hoon’s agency, PEAK J Entertainment, shared that the drama is โone of the projects Kim Do Hoon has been offered.โ The production is scheduled to air on the channel tvN in the summer of 2026.
Kim Do Hoon’s Current Projects
While fans await a final decision on this new spy drama, Kim Do Hoon can currently be seen in the ongoing melo-thriller series “Dear X,” which premiered on TVING in November 2025. In that show, he plays Kim Jae Oh, a character who forms a complex alliance with the main protagonist, Baek Ah Jin, showcasing his ability to tackle intense and morally grey roles.
