After eight years of shocking twists, heartbreaking deaths, and one of the most unpredictable stories in modern manga, Chainsaw Man has officially come to an end. Creator Tatsuki Fujimoto released the final chapter, Chapter 232, on March 24, 2026, bringing the series to a close with a conclusion that reset everything fans thought they knew about Denji and his world.

The ending did not announce a third part, confirming that this is the true finale of the long-running series. The final volume, Volume 24, is scheduled for release in Japan on June 4, 2026.

Pochita’s Final Sacrifice Changes Everything

The final chapters built toward an ending that had been hinted at since the very beginning of the series. In Chapter 231, Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil who had been bonded to Denji since the first chapter, made the ultimate choice. Facing a threat that was consuming Denji, Pochita ripped out his own heart and ate it, effectively erasing the Chainsaw Devil from existence.

“Our dream life together is over, but maybe that’s a good thing.” – Pochita to Denji in Chapter 231

Pochita’s last words to Denji were simple: “keep on dreaming.” The Chainsaw Devil understood something fundamental about Denji. No matter how much he gained in life, he would always want more. That endless desire had driven the story forward, and Pochita knew the only way to give Denji peace was to remove himself from the equation entirely.

Chapter 232 Brings the Story Full Circle

Chapter 232, titled “Thank You, Chainsaw Man,” picks up after the reset. Denji wakes up in his old shack, covered in blood, with only a vague feeling that he had both a good and a bad dream. He returns to the same desperate life he had at the beginning of the series, hunted by the Zombie Devil just like in the very first chapter.

But this time, things play out differently.

Power, the Blood Devil, saves Denji instead of Pochita. She finds him interesting, revives him with her blood, and makes him her pet. The dynamic mirrors the early chapters of the series but with roles swapped. Later, Nayuta, the Control Devil, shows up and recruits both of them into her devil-hunting organization. She sends Denji and Power to attend high school while hunting devils on the side.

Asa Mitaka Gets a Second Chance

One of the most meaningful moments in the final chapter involves Asa Mitaka, whose difficult story in Part 2 began with a traumatic encounter involving a devil. In this new timeline, Denji intervenes at exactly the right moment and prevents that incident from happening. Asa never suffers the trauma that shaped her entire journey.

Later at school, when Asa nearly falls, Denji catches her. She calls him “Chainsaw Man,” a name that makes his heart race. Denji does not remember the previous timeline, but something in him responds to the name.

How Fans Are Reacting to the Chainsaw Man Ending

The final chapter has created a split among the series’ large fanbase. Some readers see the ending as a poetic conclusion that fits Fujimoto’s style perfectly. Others feel disappointed that the series ended without resolving many plot threads.

On Reddit, one user shared mixed feelings about the finale. “I feel like I would have really loved this ending, but it feels like Fujimoto got bored with writing and just skipped to the planned ending in the middle of an arc. So instead of a satisfying ending, it feels out of nowhere.”

Another user was more direct in their reaction. “Yeah, you can see Fujimoto is 200% done with this series,” they wrote, calling it a “speed run of an ending.”

On Asian forums like Hong Kong’s LIHKG and Taiwan’s PTT, discussions have been just as divided. Some fans compared the reset ending to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, praising it for giving Denji a chance at a normal life. Others called it disappointing, pointing out that many characters like Kishibe never got closure, and that the reset erased the emotional weight of the first part.

One comment that got attention summed up the frustration: “After all these years, Denji and I are both still virgins.”

What Comes After Chainsaw Man’s Final Chapter

The final page of Chapter 232 included a clear message: “The End. Thank you for reading! Please look forward to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s next work!!” There was no announcement about a third part, confirming that the story has reached its true conclusion.

For fans who want to revisit the series, Shonen Jump+ is currently offering Part 2 chapters for free reading. This gives readers a chance to experience the full story from beginning to end.

The Chainsaw Man franchise continues to expand through animation. The Reze Arc movie has become a major hit, and the Assassin Arc anime has been confirmed for production. While the manga may be over, Denji’s story will continue on screen for years to come.

The series leaves behind an impressive legacy. Since its debut in December 2018, Chainsaw Man has sold over 35 million copies worldwide. It won the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 award for male readers and earned the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shonen category.
