A new teaser for the KBS2 drama “Last Summer“ shows how a single confession from Choi Sung Eun’s character shatters the relationship between twin brothers played by Lee Jae Wook. The preview, released on September 23, 2025, gives a deeper look at the youthful summer days that lead to a painful rift between the three friends.
The drama follows childhood friends who are forced to confront a long-buried truth about their first love. Lee Jae Wook takes on a dual role as twin brothers Baek Do Ha and Baek Do Young, while Choi Sung Eun stars as their neighbor and friend, Song Ha Kyung.
The Summer Everything Changed
The teaser opens with bright memories of summers past. Do Ha and Ha Kyung share a happy time together, with Ha Kyung playfully telling him, โIโll make you my No. 1, at least for the summer.โ Do Ha looks back on this period with happiness, saying in a voice-over, โI liked summer. It was my summer.โ The mood is light when Do Young, the other twin brother, joins them. The three are shown laughing, playing games, and creating framed memories together, a picture of perfect friendship.
However, the tone shifts dramatically. Ha Kyungโs narration reveals the fragility of their bond, stating, โThe three of us were always together every summer, but in the end, it all fell apart.โ The key moment occurs when Ha Kyung confesses her feelings to one of the brothers and they share a kiss. The teaser shows the other brother witnessing this intimate moment, his unsettled gaze hinting at an irreversible change in their relationship. The scene underscores the confession as a pivotal point that defines their future.
The Story of the Twin Brothers
The brothers’ background adds complexity to the love triangle. Baek Do Ha and Baek Do Young were separated after their parents’ divorce. Do Ha grew up in the United States, while Do Young lived in South Korea. Every summer, Do Ha would return to Korea for 21 days to stay with his father and brother. During these visits, he and Do Young would spend time with their next-door neighbor, Song Ha Kyung. Ha Kyung’s father is also good friends with the twins’ father.
As children, Ha Kyung and Do Ha often bickered, but she gradually developed feelings for him, which she kept to herself because his visits were only temporary. Now as adults, their careers have brought them back into the same world. Do Ha works as a talented architect, and Ha Kyung is an architectural public official. An incident from two years ago caused a major change in their lives, and the drama will follow them as they uncover the truth behind their past.
The Adult World and New Characters
The story moves between the characters’ youth and their present adult lives. In the present day, the dynamics have shifted. Do Ha is shown as the head of Pluto Atelier, and his path crosses with a lawyer named Seo Soo Hyuk, played by Kim Gun Woo. Soo Hyuk is an appellate lawyer with a 99 percent success rate. Newly released stills show the two men in a professional setting, with Do Ha reviewing documents and Lawyer Seo closely observing him.
The production has hinted that their relationship will develop into a new bromance that goes beyond a typical client-lawyer connection, with the two even becoming meal buddies. The drama’s posters also hint at the complex emotions between the characters. Do Ha’s poster carries the caption, โEven if you hate me, Iโm going to like you this summer,โ showing his determined feelings for Ha Kyung. Ha Kyung’s poster, with the line โMy summer is always the season when guests come to visit,โ points to Do Ha, whose annual summer visits defined her youth.
