The Paramount+ spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva has been canceled and will not return for a second season. The series, which reunited stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo for 10 episodes, concluded its run on the streaming platform on Oct. 23, 2025, and the cancellation was announced on Dec. 19, 2025. Following the news, Cote de Pablo shared a personal farewell with fans, stating she was grateful to have given the beloved characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David their “happily ever after”.

Official Announcement and Stars’ Joint Statement

Paramount+ and CBS Studios confirmed the series would end after a single season. The show’s stars, who also served as executive producers, released a joint statement expressing their gratitude.

โ€œWe feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Zivaโ€™s story,โ€ de Pablo and Weatherly said. โ€œOur deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.โ€

This statement was shared by both actors on their official Instagram accounts.

Cote de Pablo’s Personal Farewell to Fans and Co-Star

Separate from the formal statement, Cote de Pablo posted a more personal reflection on Instagram. She shared a photo taken 12 years ago, after filming her final scene on the original NCIS series, showing her and Michael Weatherly walking back to their trailers.

In her caption, she wrote, โ€œWe had no idea then that Tony and Zivaโ€™s story would one day come full circle. Today, this photo carries a beautiful new meaning. May Tony and Ziva walk into their forever. Thank you all for your love and support โค๏ธโ€.

Her post was met with support from the NCIS family, including a heart emoji comment from Brian Dietzen, who plays Dr. Jimmy Palmer on the flagship series.

What Happened in the Series and Its Finale

NCIS: Tony & Ziva premiered on Sept. 4, 2025, and released episodes weekly through October. The story found Tony and Ziva living in Paris, co-parenting their daughter, Tali, but not together as a couple. Their peaceful life was shattered when Tonyโ€™s security company was framed for a major crime, forcing the former agents to go on the run across Europe to clear their names.

By the end of the 10-episode season, they had succeeded. Showrunner John McNamara confirmed to TV Insider that the couple reconciled, cleared their names, and were no longer on the run, leaving them in a “happy place” with their daughter. An alternate ending that would have set up a second season was scrapped.

Performance and Critical Reception

Data from Luminate indicated that while the series debuted solidly for Paramount+, it experienced a rapid 51% drop-off in viewership across its first three episodes.

Critics, however, responded favorably. The series holds an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on critic reviews and a score of 73 on Metacritic, indicating “generally favorable” reviews. Variety’s review noted it was arguably “the best of the many NCIS spinoff shows,” praising its success in recapturing the wit and focus on character relationships that defined the original series.

The Legacy of “Tiva” and the Expanding NCIS Universe

The pairing of Tony and Ziva, affectionately nicknamed “Tiva” by fans, has been a central and popular element of NCIS since de Pablo joined the cast in Season 3. Their chemistry fueled years of storylines, and fans were deeply invested in their unresolved relationship when both actors left the mothership seriesโ€”de Pablo after Season 11 and Weatherly after Season 13.

This spinoff, the first developed exclusively for streaming, was a direct response to that long-standing fan desire to see their story continue. Its cancellation leaves three active series in the NCIS franchise: the original NCIS, NCIS: Sydney (currently in its third season), and NCIS: Origins (in its second season).

The one-season series remains available for streaming in its entirety on Paramount+.
