Hyun Bin is in talks to lead a new series titled Made In Korea, which will depict the turbulent era of 1970s Korea.

Hyun Bin’s possible comeback after marriage

Fans of Hyun Bin, who rose to global fame with his romantic role in the hit K-drama Crash Landing on You, might be in for a treat. According to Korean media outlets, the actor has received an offer to star in a blockbuster series titled Made In Korea, which will be produced by Hive Media Corp and directed by Woo Min Ho.

Hyun Bin’s agency confirmed the news and said, “Hyun Bin received the offer to star in this series, and he is showing positive consideration for it. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.”

If Hyun Bin accepts the offer, it will be his first drama appearance after his marriage to his ‘Crash Landing on You’ co-star Son Ye Jin, which was announced in 2022. The couple had met on the set of Crash Landing on You, where they played star-crossed lovers from North and South Korea.

It will also be his second collaboration with director Woo Min Ho, after the film Harbin, which is expected to be released later this year. Harbin is a historical thriller that follows a group of Korean independence fighters who plot to assassinate a Japanese commander in the 1930s.

Made In Korea: a separate film from Drug King

Made In Korea is reportedly a big-budget series that will cost around 48 billion KRW, or approximately 36 million USD, to produce. The series will portray the chaotic and violent period of 1970s Korea, where people had to rely on their instincts to survive.

Earlier, it was rumored that Made In Korea was a spin-off of Drug King, a 2018 action film that starred Song Kang Ho as a drug lord who rose to power in the 1970s. Drug King was also produced by Hive Media Corp and directed by Woo Min Ho.

However, the production company clarified that Made In Korea is not related to Drug King, and that it is a completely separate film. The company also said that the casting and roles for Made In Korea are being finalized, and that the filming will begin this summer.

Fans’ anticipation and expectations

Hyun Bin’s fans are eagerly waiting for his confirmation to star in Made In Korea, as they are curious to see him in a different genre and role from his previous works. Hyun Bin is known for his versatile acting skills, as he has played various characters ranging from a charming con artist in The Swindlers, to a special forces captain in Confidential Assignment, to a handsome CEO in Secret Garden.
