The battle for New York City is about to become a war on multiple fronts. With Wilson Fisk now holding the official power of the Mayor’s office, Matt Murdock will face his most complex array of enemies yet in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. A trailer shown to fans at New York Comic-Con 2025 has confirmed the formidable lineup of antagonists ready to challenge Daredevil when the series returns to Disney+.
The new season, which finished filming in the summer of 2025, is scheduled to premiere on March 4, 2026. It will consist of eight episodes. The story picks up after Fisk’s victory in Season 1, where he outlawed masked vigilantes and activated a powerful Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Matt Murdock is now forced to build a resistance to fight back against an authoritarian regime that controls the very system he once fought to protect.
Kingpin: The Mayor as a Monarch
Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, but he is no longer just a crime lord operating from the shadows. As the Mayor of New York, Fisk has achieved a frightening level of legitimate power. The trailer emphasizes that his violent nature remains, showing him engaged in a bloody boxing match, even as he holds the city’s highest office.
Executive producer Brad Winderbaum described Fisk as acting “like a king,” which elevates him into a new class of international power players. His “Safer Streets Initiative” is the legal framework for his anti-vigilante crackdown, putting Daredevil and his allies on the wrong side of the law. Fisk will find himself squeezed from two sides: by the street-level threat of Daredevil and by new, sophisticated enemies in the world of high-stakes politics.
Vanessa Fisk: The Strategic Partner in the Shadows
Ayelet Zurer reprises her role as Vanessa Fisk, Wilson’s wife and a dangerous power in her own right. In the first season, she evolved from an art curator to a ruthless mastermind, secretly orchestrating the assassination of Foggy Nelson. Now serving as the Mayor’s public consort, she provides a calculated, polished front for her husband’s operations.
โOh, they’re strong together, that’s for sure. Strong together. But there are other factors coming in, so everybody’s going to be affected,โ Zurer teased about the couple’s dynamic in Season 2.
Vanessa is expected to be a key strategic partner for Kingpin, guiding his political and criminal maneuvers from a place of influence. Her return confirms that the Fisk family unit itself is a primary antagonist.
Bullseye: An Unpredictable and Evolving Threat
Wilson Bethel is back as the unstable and extraordinarily dangerous Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter. The trailer hints at new dimensions to the character, showing a calm moment where he smiles while ordering a milkshake, followed by a violent scene where he lies bloodied on the ground after a fight. Intriguingly, Daredevil is seen standing over him, possibly offering a hand, sparking theories of a temporary alliance.
Bethel has expressed great excitement for the new season, hinting at major developments for the character.
โI get to do some things that are completely new and novel and insane and crazy. I think some of the best work I’ve done on Daredevil, and maybe on any show, will be out in this new season,โ Bethel said in a recent interview.
Fans are waiting to see if Dex will fully embrace his iconic Bullseye persona from the comics in this season.
Mr. Charles: A New Player on the Global Stage
A major new addition to the cast is Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles. This character represents a significant escalation of the conflict, introducing a threat that operates on a global, political level. Mr. Charles is not a street-level thug; he is a high-level power player who uses economic pressure and international diplomacy as weapons.
Brad Winderbaum explained that Fisk’s rise to mayor puts him in direct contact with this elite class.
โMatthew Lillard’s character represents that. But he’s as influential, in many ways, as Fisk is. That power negotiation at a very high level of politics and international diplomacy is also fun to watch,โ Winderbaum stated.
Mr. Charles will serve as an antagonist to Kingpin himself, applying pressure from above while Daredevil fights from the streets below.
The Resistance: Allies Returning to Fight Back
Facing this powerful array of villains, Matt Murdock will not be alone. The season will focus on him building a vigilante army to resist Fisk’s rule. Key allies from his past are returning to join the fight.
Deborah Ann Woll returns as Karen Page, playing a larger role as a leading member of the resistance. Krysten Ritter officially re-enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jessica Jones, the super-strong private detective. Executive producer Sana Amanat noted that Jones joins the fight because “it feels like it’s very personal,” and her edgy personality brings a new dynamic to the team.
Additionally, Jon Bernthal is confirmed to return as Frank Castle, the Punisher, after escaping custody in Season 1. The season will also feature the return of Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne (Swordsman) and new characters like Lili Taylor as the Governor of New York, a political opponent to Mayor Fisk.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to begin streaming exclusively on Disney+ on March 4, 2026. A third season for the series has already been confirmed.
