New York streets are buzzing again. Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter have been spotted filming Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 together. These leaked set photos show the actors together for the first time since Netflix’s The Defenders ended in 2017. The images spread fast across social media on April 3, 2026, giving fans a clear look at what is coming next for the Man Without Fear.
Defenders Reunion Confirmed by New York Set Photos
The photos show Krysten Ritter walking as Jessica Jones with Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist) following behind. Charlie Cox was not in these specific shots, but his return as Matt Murdock is already confirmed for the series. The group filmed scenes in Brooklyn on April 3, with Deborah Ann Woll also spotted on set as Karen Page meeting with a character named Mayor Sheila Rivera.
Ritter is already scheduled to appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which started streaming on March 25, 2026, on Disney+. Her character Jessica Jones was a private investigator with super strength who led her own Netflix series for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. Her appearance in the current season likely sets up the larger reunion happening in Season 3.
Colter plays Luke Cage, a man with unbreakable skin and super strength. His Netflix series ran for two seasons from 2016 to 2018. The set photos show him wearing the same yellow suit he had at the end of Luke Cage Season 2, where he took over as Harlem’s new crime boss. Some photos also show him in a black vest over a yellow shirt, matching his comic book look from the Power Man & Iron Fist comics.
Jones returns as Danny Rand, the martial arts master with the power of the Iron Fist. His Netflix series also ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2018. The character lost and regained his powers during that show, ending with him using dual pistols alongside his fist. Jones has spoken about wanting to prove critics wrong after the mixed response to the original Iron Fist series.
“I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it,” Jones said at a March 2025 anime convention. “My response to that is like, ‘Give me a f—ing chance, man.’ I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong.”
Colter also hinted at his return earlier this year. On the March 3 episode of the Inside of You podcast, he shared his conversations with Marvel.
“I’ve had discussions with Marvel,” Colter said. “And I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will.”
How Season 3 Story Might Unfold After the Leaks
The current season of Daredevil: Born Again shows Matt Murdock going undercover to fight Mayor Wilson Fisk (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) and his criminal control over New York. Five episodes remain in Season 2. After that, Jon Bernthal will star in The Punisher: One Last Kill, a streaming special event set to release in May 2026.
According to insider reports, when Season 3 begins, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist will be protecting New York while Daredevil is not around. The exact reason for his absence is being kept secret until the Season 2 finale. Some fans believe it connects to comic book stories where Matt Murdock faces major life-changing events.
The set photos also show Karen Page looking very professional while meeting Mayor Sheila Rivera. Deborah Ann Woll has played Karen Page since the original Daredevil series on Netflix. Zabryna Guevara plays Rivera, who appears to have taken over as Mayor after Wilson Fisk leaves the position at the end of Season 2. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer also showed Rivera as the new Mayor, connecting these stories together.

What the Defenders Reunion Means for Marvel Fans
This reunion marks the first time all four original Defenders actors have shared the screen since The Defenders miniseries on Netflix in 2017. That show brought together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to fight the Hand, a shadowy organization of ninja warriors.
The original Netflix shows were known for their grown-up tone and street-level violence. They ended when Marvel Studios stopped making shows for Netflix and moved everything to Disney+. Now, those same characters are coming back in the new Marvel Studios system.
Showrunner Dario Scardapane has talked about keeping the show grounded in Hell’s Kitchen. He does not want the series to become too big or lose its focus on street-level crime.
“The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’” Scardapane said. “We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York. I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world, but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular.”
Season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again is expected to release sometime in 2027. The show currently streams weekly on Disney+ in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and India (through JioHotstar). Season 2 episodes drop every Tuesday. The full release schedule is available on the Disney+ platform for each region.
